67 F100 Crown Vic suspension, Diesel engine, disc brakes
Well I have been neglecting this site for quite some time and for that I am sorry, I know this is by far the best bumpside website on the net by far. I started working on my 67 F100 back in march after driving from Texas to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to pick the truck up. I actually got a smokein deal on the truck even after the money I spent on fuel to get it, plus it was a fun road trip.
Now what I bought, a 67 F100 (actually registered as a 68 f100 but vin and heater controls say otherwise) single cab short bed 2wd with the 300 6cylinder and 4 spd manual on the floor dana 44 rear axle with 4.1 gears.
What I have changed/added.
-2007 crown vic front suspension to include aluminum crossmember, 12" disc brakes, rack & pinion, and sway bar.
-coated the entire frame and underside of body in por-15
-78 F150 Automatic shift tilt steering column.
-1993 crown vic 8.8 rear axle with 3.27 ratio and limited slip, disc brakes.
-2003 chevy 2500 express van hydroboost and master cylinder
-1987 700R4 auto trans.
-2005 dodge 2500 ram with cummins radiator and intercooler.
-1990 Isuzu 4bd1t 3.9L 4cyl diesel with 2003 hy35 turbo
-custom made mandrel bent 3.5" exhaust
-custom made aluminum gauge bezel with 8 autometer gauges.
-2007 dodge magnum 18" wheels
-2003 ford ranger 17 gal plastic fuel tank
-2004 F150 spare tire carrier
-custom make aluminum fan shroud with 1998 mercury sable electric fans
-EZ wiring 21 circuit wiring harness
Things I still need to do
-weld up the factory ash tray
-make low profile bed cover
-install vegi oil conversion kit
-upgrade headlights
-upgrade taillights to LED
-paint and straighten body
-install vintage air A/C and heating unit
-install remote start
-install power windows and locks
Thats about it. I have about 1000 pics or so but will only post a few on here. I have been posting regularly on a couple other websites if you want to check them out go here, http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/71605 ... -f100.html or here http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3300
Now on with the pics.
This is the first pic when I picked it up in detroit lakes, minnesota
engine bay with 300 6 cylinder(supposedly verified??) although data plate says 240 who really knows.

8.8 rear axle installed
This is a shot of the oil pan clearance for the isuzu diesel and a shot at the motor mounts I made up. I used 3/16th steel to box the frame and 3/16th 2x3 tubing and flat plate to make the motor mounts. I also used the original NPR truck motor mounts attached to the motor.
Marking the rear spring hangers so I could raise them up and lower the truck several inches (about 4")
test fitting the 03 cummins HY35 turbo and finding it wont work with the factory isuzu alternator, I have since swapped it to a 95 ford escort 3g 95 amp small cased unit. original isuzu was only 60 amp.
700r4 transmission test fit
engine test fit, notice the 2003 chevy van hydrboost unit.
chevy van hydroboost and master cylinder, did I mention with this hydroboost and the large 12" crown vic disc brakes this thing will stop on a dime. I actually went into the windshield the first time I hit them and the pedal travel is only 1". I love this brake setup.
installed the dodge ram intercooler and radiator, the intercooler is so big I had to notch the frame a little but I reinforced it with 1/4" plate all the way around the whole area to help with the strength.

just another shot of the cv crossmember with the new hydroboost/ power steering lines I had made. I used 4800 psi hydraulic line instead of regular p/s hose. I chose this line because it is steel braided and I figure it couldnt hurt since the truck does sit pretty close to the ground now.
this is just a completed engine swap with everything pretty much done. I later swapped the alternator, air intake, and a few other small items.
ooohhhh shiny 3" intercooler piping.
2006 chevy duramax factory air intake assembly I modified to fit.
pretty much the way the engine bay looks now minus the aluminum fan shroud I made and spal fan controller.
modifying the crossmember to fit the ford ranger fuel tank it sure does fit nice now though. I even made some nice factory looking straps to hold it in place just like the factory would have.
the custom sending unit made to fit the 17 gal ranger tank. much easier than modding the original unit.
fuel tank completed and installed and working great. I just need to install my stainless steel fuel fill with cap on the inside of the bed.
here is the rear shocks installed. I coated the entire frame and rear axle in por-15. I have since installed new calipers and rotors along with finishing the sway bar install. This will probably be a temporary solution since I may be installing a 4 link with air bags or going to an IRS.
just pics of the exhaust I made from 3.5" mandrel bent pipe. I am useing a morosso spiral muffler. I will be adding a second flow through muffler soon. I ave also wrapped the front half from the turbo connection to the bed section with header wrap to help keep heat off of the cab floor.
and I have since coated the entire exhaust to keep it from rusting.
down pipe coming off the turbo
fan shroud with mercury sable elecric fans
spal fan controller along with the second fan relay and starter and shutdown relays.I used 30 amp manual reset breakers instead of fuses.
the 2004 F150 spare tire carrier I used. This is a nice addition that only took 30 minutes to fab a bracket for and install.
just a nice shot of the cv front suspension installed
some nice floor pans shots of everything coated in por 15 the entire underside is also coated in por 15. No more rust around here:D

here is the floor covered in dynamat extreme, I also plan on putting 3 more layeres of other stuff like dynapad, insulation and then a rubber floor for easy cleaning. I am going for the quietest ride i can. I will aslo be doing the doors firewall and roof.
here are a couple pics of how it sits. I have since installed the hood and removed the toolbox. The truck sits almost perfectly level only about 1/2" higher in the back but I think when I get a full tank and then I get in it will sit pretty level.
I have been working on a custom gauge panel. I dont like the ball milled ones on ebay and cant find any with more than 6 gauges, I will need at least 8 due to the turbo diesel underhood. here is my first attempt. I have since made a second one with only 8 guages out of alluminum which turned out nice. I need to get some pics of the second one and post them. Keep in mind this is just in the filler stage it still needed to be sanded and painted at the time.

So what do you guys think? This pretty much represents the past several months of my life and is the current condition of the project so far. I still have several things to do like get the fender rust fixed and paint the thing. The soda blaster is coming out in a couple weeks and is doing the entire truck inside and out. I am also looking for a good tailgat I can mod in my own special way. I will also be makeing a roll pan. The next big project willl be installing my new EZ wiring 21 circuit harness as soon as I get it next week, then the vintage air a/c sytem.
I look forward to everyones comments good or bad, let me know what you think.

I have nothing but good things to say.... You got me wishing I was back home working on mine. You have a mass of things in there that are just awsome. I like your brakes and your ability to make things work. Kind of a a master fabricator if you ask me. For one thing you sure have been busy you get two

how was the install of the crown vic stuff? was it farily simple to square things up, if not, what did you do to make it all nice and even?

The crown vic front end was very very easy to install but removing the old crossmember was a pain. Here is what I did.
I took a piece of string and attached a wieght (old 302 oil pump) to it to stretch it out. I then used a piece of duck tape to attach it to the fender exactly straight up from the centerline of the original wheel hub. Remember to make sure your wheels are straight. That should locate the centerline of the wheels pretty good and allow you to get the crown vic wheel hubs centered in the wheel wells.
I then measured the distance from the frame to the aluminum crossmember side to side in several different areas (use the machined surfaces on the CV crossmember for accuracy) to make sure I had the crossmember centered on the frame from side to side.
I also measured from the end of the frame and a couple of other factory holes to the aluminum crossmember on both sides to make sure that it wasnt crooked and to help me double check that I had the factory hubs centered when I did my initial markings.
With those measurements I now have it centered left to right and centered in the wheel well. I cant stress enough how important it is to measure 10 times then cut once. Once you rill your holes to bolt the crossmember in its kinda permanent unless you want to fill the holes in and have to redo it over.
I would also recomend getting some good clamps to hold the crossmember in place when you go for final check and fitment inspection before you drill mounting holes. You will also want a good floor jack with a large lift pad to raise the front end. I use a very large 3 ton floor jack like the one at northern tool for $80 its what I use and works very well.
