well i was thinking drill a hole in the chrome then butt your panel to it then weld it from the back in the hole. no grinding needed on the front. yea you wil still have to cut the other but it would make one piece instead of two. them you could tape it off and paint it.

if theres a new way, i'll be the first in line. it better work this time

i see your idea now, but i think it would be a little easier to paint it out and then just secure it with screws. thank for any input on the topic thou.customcrewcab wrote:well i was thinking drill a hole in the chrome then butt your panel to it then weld it from the back in the hole. no grinding needed on the front. yea you wil still have to cut the other but it would make one piece instead of two. them you could tape it off and paint it.

well, i think my camera is done! i just get a white screen on the veiwfinder, tried batteries not it, pulled the mem. card and put it in my old camera and took some pics and they show up on the card but not on my computer. so ill have to wait and buy a camera tomorrow to post my gauge panel progress pics. (EDIT) ok my computer final found pics on my mem.card, and don't ask what was wrong because i don't have a clue anyway here's a pic keep in mind the panel will be black when its all done and i don't have the temp gauge in because i haven't removed it from the truck yet. the extra holes are for my LED indicators and mounting screws. there is a little play to each whole so if things dont look exsactly straight they will be in the final install.

yea i think so to. i held it in place to get an idea of how it was going to feel and look in the drivers seat and it has a very cool feel and looks alot, i mean alot different than stock. i have to say doing this mod you do loose that nastalgic feel of the factory gauges and i will miiss that a little. but on the other hand my trucks not gonna have any miles on now and thats gota make it worth more right .

i don't have a pic but i used a standard jig saw. i posted previously i would use a cut off wheel but after some thought it may have created to much heat and damaged the chrome.

Nice job, td... that looks real nice! I'd like to know what you used for the turn/hi-beam indicators. Are those LED's with metallic bezels?
