Okay...on our MP vehicles, we had a master power switch out in them. If that switch is off...no power. Toggle switch with wiring, $9.00, installation fee, $30.00 each. Total cost was $39.00. If the Army wasn't so strict on some of the rules, we could have put them in ourselves...then it's only $9.00 each. Plus, the switch was hidden under the driver seat, within easy reach of the driver.

real world results...we have never had a MP vehicle stolen...but that includes before we had them installed as well.

leave the windows open, the keys in it and a stuffed rattler on the seat. I found a big rattle under the seat in the hayride truck when I bought it.

I use a Truck Club, turn the tank selector valve to 'off' and have a NRA window decal on the back.

Actualy i find that with most vehicles windows up or down(depends on inclimate weather patterns) Keys in. most people think something has got to be wrong or you'd have locked it and pulled the key.

I installed a ball valve on my fuel line behind the seat. I've never had anyone try to staeal the old beast, but I can tell you that there have been a few mornings when I was in a hurry got in fired it up, and didn't make it out of the driveway.

well on both my truck i have a lil toggle switch that breaks master power tucked under the dash. And on my '79 there is no key. just a switchboard, and i have yet to meet anyone except myself that would know which switches need to be in what position. (no labels and some are backwards). and in the 67 i have a gun rack, i have no idea if that deters anything, but i woulfnt try and steal it. but yes, a little toggle switch or a small keyed switch under the dash is what i like to use.

I can't say I agree with you rjewkes. Leaving the truck with keys in it calls for some crazy-in-head juvenile to joy ride it, IMO... in a lot of areas.

If it gets stolen and trashed, and the insurance company discovers it was unlocked with the keys in it, they will NOT pay for it!

I keep my truck looking like a rusted out piece of crap. Seems to work so far. :D Second layer of security is to put the t-case in N. Most thieves don't have a clue to how a 4x4 works and they just think the tranny is broken. :D
Third layer of security is the NRA sticker :D
All in all the only costs are the cost of NRA membership if you don't already have a sticker.

If, like me you have an electric fuel pump - you put in an on-off switch to it, and don't label it, so when they run out of gas they have to spend some time trying to figure out what happened and maybe aren't smart enough so they didn't get very far. But I guess if they took mine They'd have to take it far far away and repaint it PDQ, and then I'd get to start battling with Allstate over how much $$$ I was gonna get. I saved all receipts, and have lots of pictures, so I plan on putting a good sized dent in their coverage if that should ever happen.

My last F-100 got broken into back in Illinois, they found the keys in the seat pocket and ransacked the glove box. After they searched through my truck they left me $100 and a new radio.

CACWBY,
You may want to have an appraisal done. That or blue book is what the ins. co. will go by.
At least that's what they do in Ne.

Thanks, I have a half baked one (done by an official appraiser but over the internet based on all my info and pictures -he didn't even charge me) and know I need to get a full blown one. My Allstate agent assures me that Allstate has truck insured through their antique and classic division for actual value and not blue book, but unless I get off my duff and get an appraisal I'm not very confident (but then I'm also worried because Hot Rod Trucks don't sell for anywhere near what they cost to build, so until I get one I don't know what it would appraise at).

I also always lock all my vehicles up no matter where I'm at (old So Calif habit) and keep them in garage at home.
