Re: Pipes's Bump
its the 3.9 v-8. rwd. has the jag motor and suspension. great looks, handling, and very comfortable.. would I buy another?? heck no to many problems with these cars.. window regulators breaking, coil packs shorting out, over heating, ac dying, airbag sensors going bad.. heck tires alone are around 1000 for all 4.dont get me wrong, I love the car.. when it working right.. but when things go wrong its exspensive, not a few hundred.. usually 500 and up last bill was 1400..thousands of people have the same problems with the cars.. if I had known that before I got it I woulda passed.not one of fords best ideas even worst the fact they pretend the problems dont exist.

Re: Pipes's Bump
well that sucks, i thought they were rear wheel drive thats why i wanted one, cause there not as big as the crown vics and town cars but still have a v-8... but my sisters v6 is a 3.8... almost the same size. looks like im stuck with the crown for dependability then. those are some bad problems for a car that isnt that old, and it sounds like its expensive to maintain in proper running order....

Re: Pipes's Bump
argh! nothing went right today.. had to cut the old brake lines first of all.. none of the fittings would brake lose. then while taking the rear suspension apart on the old frame the bolts for the rear spring shackles refused to come out so they got cut. then the U- bolts for the rear refused to come undone,so they got cut!. When I bought the new frame the front leaf spring hanger was off the frame, but the guy gave me a set so I just had to paint them and bolt them onto the new frame.. well wouldnt you know it,after having them blasted, and painted,I go to put them on the frame and they dont fit ! to wide! guess he gave me a set off a 73-79 f150..sheesh. So after 3 cut off disc I got the old perches off and having them sandblasted along with all u bolt perch and the shackles.Guess this gives me a chance to clean up the rear and give it a fresh coat of paint. So hopefully this weekend, if I can get the U-bolts, and the shackle bolts I'll finally have the frame on 4 wheels!! The new reman steering box came in so thats ready to be put on as well If the batteries didnt dies on the camera I woulda had some pics, so hopefully tomorrow or sunday with more updates. Other then that, lets see. I moved the 50 out of the tent and stuck it behind the tent, put my bikes into my dads 40 foot enclosed trailer with the mustang. Now I can move the tent were the sun will keep it warm and hopefully get some paint on the cab before its too cold.
Heres a list of to do before I call it quits for the winter,
1.Finish bolting up suspension and put the new frame on the wheels
2.Get the cab painted and put on the new frame.
3.get the 460 up on the engine stand, change all gaskets
4.put the right pan and pick up on the motor.
5.get the motor and trans back in frame, hook up driveshaft.
6.get the inner fenders and radiator support on truck(after getting them painted).
7. hope it stays warm and bolt on the fenders and hood .
running out of time, so hoping it will be warm alittle while alonger so I can at least get some paint on these parts and start putting the truck together. If I can get the interior and most of the cab painted I can put the glass in it and the interior.Soon as spring hits the bed will be fixed and painted and I should have a truck!

Re: Pipes's Bump
well heres a few pics of whats been done.. doesnt look like much, but it was a pain to get most of the old stuff off, and even cuttign bolts and u bolts, grinding off the shackle mounts to the frame and so on..
new frame has front wheels!!!
whats left of the front end of the old bent frame.. cab is just sitting there until its time to uncover and paint..
had to grind off the rivets of the front spring mount.. the set the guy gave me with the new frame were off a dent side and were to wide.
another shot of the front end, all new bushings, and shocks, still need to put tie rods and drag link on.
shot of the old frame, just need to take off the sport bumper brackets and should be done with it
shot of the truck section of the yard
custom coil spring retaining clip my buddy made at his shop.. mine were broke and couldnt see spending over 20 a piece for em.
figured while waiting for the u-bolts for the leaf springs to come in it was a good time for sand blastign and painting some of the mounts and shackles
look fresh paint!
heres the temp home if the 50 chop top until the truck is done
hopefully this weekend I'll have everything finally bolted to frame suspension wise and be ready to spray some paint on the cab, updates soon!

Looks really good. You are moving right along. I don't think there is anything better than taking some old rusty parts, sand blasting them, and then painting them the correct color. I just feels like you made the world a little better.

That '50 shoe box looks like a very sweet ride.
Flatheads for ever!!!!!
There is no sweeter sound than the hard rap of one of Henry's bent eights out a set of Fentons into 1 3/4 duals.
The bump looks great too!!
So much for that $1000 budget eh
Budget is an evil word than our wives should not be allowed to use against us.
Some day mine will go down to the frame when i get a back up truck to do all the work it does now
