a little more progress made today, i hand sanded the entire rear frame section inside and out with 80 gritt, then i decided i go ahead a paint the rear tank area and make a new cross member out of some thick wall 1'' square tubing to go behind the tank. im dreading tackling the axle and third member but the show must go on, so thats tomorrow.
some pics.
some pics.

Nice work TD... You are making me want to do the same now.. I was going to just put my tank in the box... but I may do this instead. The tank fits well right out of the box?

there is about 1/4'' or so that has to be trimmed off the bottom lip of the frame so the flange of the tank will slide in between and rest on top of the frame. you could mount it to the bottom side of the same lip but i figured it would be better resting on the whole flange instead of the attachment points alone. difference is my way the bed will have to come off to remove the tank, but my thinking is, when will that be?

made a little more progress today, i blasted the rear axle, this was my first blasting experience and i wont mined if its my last. man what a nasty job, i wore a mask and i still feal as though im full of dust and sand, i coughed and spit sand the whole evening after that job. i still have some touch up cleaning to do on it before paint but is alot better than it was.
before.
after.

Your progress looks good, it's like if the tank was made for your truck.
I bet your truck sounds mean with those flow masters.
