C-6 Leak
Is it normal for my transmission to just leak if I dont drive it often? I have had my 71 F-100 for almost a year but it just mostly sits in the garage and sometimes when I come out I have a puddle of tranny fluid that has leaked on the floor.

Re: C-6 Leak
its probably a bad pan gasket. its common to older cars and trucks to go bad. they need to be changed when the transmission is serviced.

Re: C-6 Leak
my c6 was leaking pretty bad and it was driving me crazy because we just rebuilt that tranny and put it in... turned out half the tranny pan bolts had loosened.
and on the engine pan there was 4 missing pan bolts and 2 backed out ones and a couple loose ones

Re: C-6 Leak
on my c6 I can't keep the pan bolts torqued so it will start leaking after running for a wile, I have to check to see if they are tight before I drive and I can tell when they are lose because it will form droplets on the pan, if it dry there still tight. I have had my pan almost fall off on me and lost all my fluid when I was driving, it is starting to irritate me

Re: C-6 Leak
the bolt holes on the pans and valve covers can become depressed right where the bolt goes into the hole on the pan and covers. that suraface must be flat and level to make them seal correctly. don't over tighten them when installing them. to get the holes flat again take the pan off and tap the area around the hole flat with the rest of the pan gasket area. then put it and a new gasket back on it.
