Man its comming along nicely!
Is this the truck you got in McAlester?? That shifter is sickening. Looks like they used a hammer to knock a hole in the floor.... Had to be a home job. We only have one tranny shop here, & even tho I dont do buisness with them, they do better work than that!!!

HA! Thats freekin' classic. Good ol' redneck repairs. Dont feel bad, the electrical connections in my Duster was re-wired with clear scotch tape when I got it. Thats right, CLEAR SCOTCH TAPE!! I also have a pocketfull of wire nuts I got off of it. PLEASE! Wire nuts??!!
Do you remember if the tranny or the converter was painted green? Thats the local tranny shops signature, they paint them green when they rebuild one.....

Re: Big Burtha 70 F100 Cab Swap UPDATE 12/27
I never really use wire nuts usually butt-connectors or electrical tape. I got the same wiring mess with the orignal truck and the new cab but I guess that's a pretty common thing with old vehicles. Yep to tourque converter was green.papabug71 wrote:HA! Thats freekin' classic. Good ol' redneck repairs. Re: Big Burtha 70 F100 Cab Swap UPDATE 12/27
Green. Oh man. Thats the sign of the local tranny shop.
My advise is to look for sawdust.
Dad had a tranny rebuilt by them years ago. He got like 12000 miles out of it before it crapped out. When he took it to a good shop in OKC, the guy said whoever rebuilt it last didnt know what they were doing. Plus he said the stuff they put back in it was refurbished junk......
Hope you get it all sorted out. Its looking good so far!!

Yeah its all figured out now I just took it out and put a C6 in its place And the old FMX is just sitting out back of the shop at my brothers. Thanks I'm hoping to start driving it daily. It needs paint but that will come someday.papabug71 wrote:Green. Oh man. Thats the sign of the local tranny shop.

Re: Big Burtha 70 F100 Cab Swap UPDATE 1/16
I've started tearing up the rear suspension to try and put some leaf springs on that I found under the house even though I'll probably be tearing it up soon toput some F250 spacers on the back to make it sit up. Also I took almost all the XLT stuff out of the interior and bought a new air filter.
Anybody ever had trouble getting this bolt out becasue I've been beating on it and it wouldn't budge
Leaf springs I found under the house I hope they fit
My XLT dash trim gone
And The New Air Cleaner

Re: Big Burtha 70 F100 Suspension Work UPDATE 2/26
I'm changing them becasue its got a nasty sag in rear and I thought maby some stiffer springs would help it out. The bolt I can't get is the one sticking half way out in the 3rd picture.1971ford wrote:why are you changing out the leaf springs

Re: Big Burtha 70 F100 Suspension Work UPDATE 2/26
Mabey you should try putting them jackstands on the frame instead of the front brakets and take the jack out or let it down a couple of inches. I can't see how the jack is, but if it is already down, try putting a little pressure up to take some of the rearends hanging weight off. So that way there isn't the weight of the truck on them springs or axle, or weight of them hanging. That might relieve the pressure. I'm not familiar with the flexomatic leaf springs, but that might help. You probably got it by now though.

I'll have to try that. No I haven't got it done yet because I went to the bull ride last night and it started snowing last night so I haven't felt like going out there and working on it yet.1967AceStroker wrote:Mabey you should try putting them jackstands on the frame instead of the front brakets and take the jack out or let it down a couple of inches.
