Does anybody know where to get a clutch drip pan gasket?

Post by robroy »

Hi Folks!

While removing the clutch drip pan--I could be using the wrong name for this--I noticed that its gasket was toast.

I've looked around some but haven't found a source for these gaskets. I don't think people replace them very often, since as I understand it, there's nothing critical about that seal.

Just to be clear, I'm talking about the moon-shaped tin pan with the tiny hole on the bottom that bolts under the bell housing.

Thanks very much!

Flywheel Inspection Plate! That sounds much better; thanks Fordman. :)

I'll have to take a photo of the old gasket and post it. About half of it is still stuck on the plate.

Thanks for replying Fordman,

That would actually be the clutch or flywheel inspection cover...
I've never even seen a gasket on one before...
When I cleaned up and painted my engine, I just cleaned it up really good, then degreased and painted it before reinstalling.

Edit : Fordman beat me to the draw, he posted when I was typing... :D

They did come with gaskets. You can get sheet cork and trace and fab your own but it isn't a necessary gasket.

I think part of the confusion here may come from the fact that this is not a gasket as it does not seal anything. It is actually an anti rattle pad. It is there to reduce chassis noises from harmonics and metal to metal contact. As BobbyFord noted, you can make your own but you don't need it. Hawkrod
