Ode to the women of 67-72 Ford truck owning men

This may sound corny but I thought I would post a big thanks to all of the women who support and/or put up with the men who own these old trucks.
While Im not saying that there arent any women owners my post is directed to the wives and/or significant others who happen to deal with some of our silly ways when it comes to these old trucks.

What brought this on was a post that I had read earlier here in this forum where someone had just bought a truck and was asking some questions about how to fix it up. (Cant remember which post or else I would reference it with a link)
Several replies later into the thread the origional poster stated that he wound up giving or selling back the truck because the previous owners wife wanted him to have it back.
When I read that I thought: What a great wife!

I tell ya, I must be lucky because my wife supports me in my passion for my truck.
She says she understands how I feel about it and that if it makes me happy I can do what ever I want to with it.
Now of course I have my priorities straight and my wife and kids come before my truck but there have been times when money got so tight I had considered selling my truck. You know who was dead set against it? My wife!
She told me that we had other things that we could sell first before I ever sold my truck. She said that we could budget other things around what ever it takes to keep it. Man I love that woman!

We have a standing rule in my house that when I am alone out side working on my truck that someone has to come check on me every hour or so. That is because accidents happen and nothing would be worse than to have an accident and be stuck under your truck all day unable to call for help when other folks are just right inside the house from you.
Anyway, when Im outside working on my truck she either sends one of the kids out to check on me and bring me a cold drink or she comes out herself with lunch etc.
She doesnt complain when I ask her to go the the parts store because Im too greasy and dont wanna stop working on the truck. And she even budgets extra money for projects on my truck when we have it.

She says she knows I love my truck and if it makes me happy then that is OK with her.
Many a time has she had plans for me to do something else other than work on my truck and yet has never complained when it breaks down and her plans change so that I can take time to fix it.

She even didnt have a problem when I bought a doner truck for $500. and we realy didnt have the money.
She told me, if that what you realy want. Then go get it! We can move some of the bills around next month so we can afford it.

Ive known too many guys that say thier wife hates thier truck and wish they wouldnt spend so much time working on them.

So, this is my Ode to my wife who loves me and my strange passion for my old truck and to any other wives who put up with our crap.
Like grease stains in the driveway. Transmissions on the back porch. Extra parts trucks littering the back yard. Or un expected expenses when something breaks and requires the whole week-end and some cash for parts to fix.

i can add my wife into this. she is exactly the same way.

even sold her project toyota last so I don't have to scrap (uuhh... I mean sell) my truck

gotta love a good woman... too bad there are so few of 'em!

Mine fits in there too, and you'll most often find her right along side of me helping fix whatever, no matter how tired she is, or how dirty it's gonna get... but she also loves BIG trucks... like Kenworths... and BIG horses, like Clydesdales... so we have lots of them around, and she keeps wanting to find more!! What a gal!!!

You hit it right on , if i where every serious about getting rid of it I best have a second plan of action for transportation to Moms , cause thats where I would like live out my remaining sane years

I'll have to add my girlfriend of about a yr to the group she supports me to the fullest just knowing that it makes me happy+ I think she wants me to finish my 70crew and the 77crew I just picked up so we can find her a early bronco she has been craving. It helps alot when they actually show interest. Guess thats part of the reason the x-wife is the x. Hats off to all the FORD ladies!!

Fellas, boy did this hit the mark. My wife is the one that found my truck in the first place. I just have to laugh when my wife complains about the grease under HER nails. You gotta love a great woman

My wife bought me the Hayride (70 F-100) truck for Christmas so I could restore it like the 71 I was working on when we bought the house (I sold it). Some time around January I ran across the Shrektruck (72 F-350 crew) and showed it to her. She looked at me like I was stupid and said "Why didn't you buy it?"
Then last Christmas she got me the rims and tires I wanted. I do have to paint her truck before I'm allowed to buy anything else for mine.
I love her, I hope she'll keep me.

Amen Brother. My Lady is supportive as well. When we found that we were coming back to Germany, she asked me what I was going to do with the 69 4x4...I stopped, dropped my head and said I just don't know. When I looked up, she had tears in her eyes.

She knew I couldn't bring it cause it wasn't mechanically sound enough to pass the customs inspections and such. Plus, storing it would have been real costly and taking it to my Dad's was out of the question as it was a 16 hour drive with no way to tow or trailer it.

As you old guys know, I gave it to one of my Soldiers, who is from Mississippi, and he took it to his folks house.

Man do I love that woman! She is something else. Not to mention the fact that I have dragged here all over this world because of the Army...3 years in Belgium, 4 years in germany, and now another 3 years in Germany. We counted the other day and we have moved 17 times in 16 years of marriage, which averages to 1 time a year. She is Good!
