1972 Ford F250 Camper Special UPDATE 1/13

Post by FordTruck »

I bought me a new project truck today. Its a 71 F250 CS. The plan is to put my 70's 302 C6 combo in it and also my bed on it. Plus whatever else my 70 has that it'll need. I think it's gonna make a cool truck. Got it for olny $250 and me and my dad are dragging it home next Sat. Well what do you guys think??

Brandon, You got yourself a nice project there and the exhaust manifolds look to be for a 302. Here is what I found online about the manifolds: (The 289/302-2V and 4V exhaust manifold. Although casting and part numbers changed a bit
throughout the life of these castings, the basics did not. Unless you're concerned about date-coded
originality, these manifolds went unchanged from 1962 through the early 1970s. This is a 1966
vintage exhaust manifold, C6OE-9430-D, with a casting date code of "6A27".) Image

Hey Mike how you been??
It's deffentally gonna be alot of work but I've done it once by myself so I figure I can do it again  My plan is to get it running/driveable then sell that bed I had on my 70 and drop a flatbed on it. Thanks for looking in to that I don't really care about the matching 71 manifolds since eventually I gonna try and find headers to fit it.

if your gonna go flatbed, why not just sell the other truck minus what you absolutely need for the F250. for enough to cover your new truck? This way you run with the bed on the new one until you can get the flatbed? just sayin' why do the work more than once of changing out the bed?

That isn't a bad idea actually. But I'm thinking it'll be a while before I cna find a chep flatbed for it also its gonna be hard to sell my F100 becuase I'm using its title forthe F250 because it dosen't have a title. I have 2 70 titles because I still have the one for that truck that I sold you parts off of but it has like a $200 fine on it. So I guess I'll just part out the 70 and use its bed until I find a flatbed then sell it or trade it for a flat.

Yep its gonna be an F250 with a F100 title and motor. I doubt anyone will know the difference btween the two. For all they know I put F250 suspension on my F100.

I love the CS trucks. But dont jump into it too heavy. Remember, your 70 is a running truck. The 72 will need a pantload of work just to make it move under its own power.

Are you going to have to re-wire it??

How's it been papa??

I know I feel bad ripping parts off of my 70. I don't think I'm gonna have to rewire the rats didn't get to it to bad but under the hood its a mess of someone elses wiring. I think the butchard up the wiring becasue the swaped motors a few times. but worse come to come to worse I'll use bits and pices of my 70's harness since I put a 72 harness in it.

Got the motor today :D . Took me the better part of a day to pull it out of my dads old work van. I think the motor will be good for quite a while it used to be an old cable co. van so i I know it was taken care of by them and my dad plus it has less than 100,000 miles.
