Re: Rustoleum paint job
Little update. I'm finishing putting together the cab and stuff before I spray the fenders, hood and bits. Today I got the front and back glass in. New rubber on the front and back. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. My wife and I put the glass in with out a problem. I also got the vent windows back in. They aren't new but I'm using ones from a very low milage truck so the rubber on them seems new. They seal nice and tight. My windows in the doors got some over spray but that will come off pretty easy. I also put on new door handles. They look great. I also pained the wheels black and put on new to me hubcaps and trim rings.
Now I'm going to finish putting in the AC system so I can finish putting the interior together and then I will spray the other parts.
My just turned six year old came out to inspect some of the work too.

Thanks Bill,
I should be thanking you. Since I didn't sell that stuff to you, I decided I might as well use it. I should have pictures of the dash pad installed in the next couple of days.

Yep, I know the feeling of getting rid of somthin then kick myself in the butt for doing it. I say a part sitting around is a wasted part. You will be getting your truck done before me, so I'm glad you decided to keep them.

Re: Rustoleum paint job
Yeah, I was going to paint it black but with all the body work that it needed, I thought white might be a better idea. Plus I already had the white paint. We are still in the middle of our adoption so there are lots of things that need to be done around the house, so this is supposed to be as quick of a project as possible.FormerMarine1981 wrote:Ok Patrick, if you can beat me there you can go first.... If he says yes. Austin I thought you were going to paint the truck Black?? what happened?
Today after church I will try to finish installing the AC duct work and put in the rest of the dash. I will put pics in both the AC install thread and this thread.

Well, didn't get as much done as I wanted today but had lots of fun with the wife and kids. I did get the door weatherstripping installed. I've got it taped up and glued down with the doors closed tight.
Here is a shot of the dash. I will be painting the ash tray, and glove box door with the fenders and hood. Should be this next week or this next weekend.

Re: Rustoleum paint job
Not much of an update since it has been a busy beginning to the week but I did just order my new carpet from stock interiors. Due to budget restrictions, I didn't get the "mass backing" so it some come with just a jute pad on the back. I'm ok with that because I have been without any flooring for about four years now. I like hearing my 460 but not ALL THE TIME! Yeah, I'm getting old.
I work until 4 or 4:30, then I have students that I help with math and I also mow a couple of yards for extra cash so I might not get much done before the weekend.

Re: Rustoleum paint job
Small update. Carpet is in. It doesn't fit perfect, but it fits pretty good. Now I'm trying to get the seat in there. Also, I'm waiting on my dennis carpenter order to come in so I can put on my new windshield washer arm gaskets and other bits. Then I can finish putting the interior together and be done with that. I will have pictures when I'm done putting the interior together.

Re: Rustoleum paint job 8/24 new pics
Ok guys. I finished painting the hood and got it on there with the hood trim and FORD letters. I still need to paint the tailgate, door panels, and glove box door. I did scratch the hood when I was installing the hood trim (front edge) and I need to adjust the DS door a little more.

For doing it yourself that looks amazing. Mine is definitely in need of some cosmetic attention and I'd be ecstatic if mine turned out as good as yours! Great work!

Re: Rustoleum paint job
Yes, I'm going to put in some sort of spray in bed liner. I'm not in a big hurry. It is my main driver and it was off the road for too long. I still need to spray and install the tailgate, door panels, and glove box door. I also have a couple of little things to do while I'm driving it. Right now I'm just enjoying the snot out of it and driving it everywhere!
