Re: 1970 F100 Extra parts rebuild
i felt that i got alot done today. i had the engine out yesterday to remove a broekn botl fromt he trans bellhousing from installing the starter a few months ago. after i had the engine back in yesterday. i took today and finished up installign the rest of the engine acessories and more. i got he starter in i changed out the broken rubber motor mount. i putthe heater box in completely. i got all of the wiring put back into the cab and engine compartment. as well as reran the dome light and gas guage wiring through the door pillar. that was fun. i dropped it down from the top to the bottom. i couldnt push it up through the pillar. i installed the headlight switch the brake warning light and bezel.i installed the windshield wipers and put a new washer tee and rubber lines to the washer squirters. everything went very nice today. no tripping over hoses or tools. no bolts that wrenches would go on that were in plain site. i didnt drop anything. i did break a aftermarket mirror i was going to put on the passenger door. oh well . i did get the aftermarket mirro onthe drivers door.
here is what i have left and planned next.
floor shifter reinstalled
tighten botls on drivers mirror
change out the dual exhuast for a single exhuast maybe. the duals are rusted out.
rehook the trans cooler lines before i reinstall the exhuast
reinstall the door glass into the drivers door. as well as the door panels and arm rests on both doors.
readjust the passenger door so it shuts correctly
reinstall the front clip again.
change the hood for a better one.
get the right color glove box door put back on. i used the wrong color the first time. i found the red one finally.
install the heater controls dome light door switch brackets and instrument cluster.
i also have to put the rear driveshaft back in and the speedometer cable.
i will try and get the radiator in last just before i start it up. i figure two to three days worth of work and it should be running and driveable.
then i will go around and make body repairs to the fenders small places inthe cab and maybe the tailgate skin. this may take awhile longer until its finished and ready to go to a new home.

Re: 1970 F100 Extra parts rebuild
heres another list of what i reinstalled today.
1 heater duct
the headlight switch
the igintion switch and drivers side door lock (the passenger side was already in the door).
both sides of the wood grain bezel below the instrument cluster. i brought the wrong wiper switch bezel and the cab is a 69 so the hazard switch would fit into the choke hole properly either. i will have to make a mod for that one way or another.
the cable from the starter to the fender relay (solinoid)
i change the glove box door back to match the color of the cab. i went from green to red.
i put the other three bolts (that i finally found) in the trans dust cover
i put the bolt in the dash that holds the parking brake in place to the dash. i forgot to tighten the outside botls though.(i just thought of that)
i installed the engine wiring harness but its for a 6 cyl so its too long. i will have to change it out.
i also put in the dome light and dome light switch brackets. i put in the window regulator and window handle but i didnt bring down the wing window or the door glass.
then i made another list of parts to bring down.
which is
horn
headliner and trim and screws
heater controls
exhaust doughnuts
behind the seat gas tank for a 69 cab. (the one that came out of it).
and i might change the hood for the one chris gave me.
i put this list here so i could have it written down some place. total time worked today about 1 1/2 -2 hours. it went pretty quickly it seemed like. but i also didnt feel like i got very much done. i thought it would take longer. plus i was goign to repair on of the slow leaking tires but i forgot my manual tire machine. so i couldnt dismount that tire.
i still have the front clip off from last week when i pulled the gnien back out to replace the broken motor mount and get the broken bolt out of the transmission starter mounting hole. that was actually easy to do. it spun right out with my fingers. isnt that wierd? then why did it break? i guess it was too tight. anyway tomorrow i will take more stuff from this list and go down and put these parts on if it isnt super hot. well i probably will anyway. i need to find the correct wiper switch bezel too. or the correct switch. it wouldnt screw toghter in there. when i get closer i am goign to get some pics.

Re: 1970 F100 Extra parts rebuild
i almost forgot. i put the floor shifter back in the floor. i cleaned up the old dash pad grilles to be primed and painted. when i got home i primed them. they are drying now. i will sand and paint them red tomorrow. with the dash pad gone i am unsure how i will support the wiring harness under the dash now. it looks like i forgot the keys to the truck in the iginition switch. well atleast its safe where its at. i may have to move the floor shifter forward or do something else. the floor shift rod is too short to reach this transmission. (i think). i also need to bring some heater hose clamps tomorrow. i need to hook all of that up. i also need to look and see which side the heater valve goes on it heater core. i cant seem to remember that for soem reason.

I believ it is the inner hose as you go towards the engine.

Re: 1970 F100 Extra parts rebuild
i hunted parts down today. and i felt in a messy mood. i wanted to do something else but my mood changed that. so i went and worked on the truck again today.
i got the gas pedal in the trapeze off of the engine and tried to put the straigt rod on to it and hook it to the gaspedal. since it was asomeones idea of a homemade straight rod. it caught up on the bracket that held the return spring behind the carb. so i left it off.
i got the steerign column firewall bracket on.
the last two bolts for the parking brake tightened down. i looked at the floor shifter and rod. i dont know. i think i might be able to turn the floor shifter around and maybe make it work with the rod i have here. or maybe i can flip the shifter arm on the transmission too. i dont know it was hot and the last thing i looked at.
i did get the hazard light switch in place. i had to drill ut the hole for the choke cable in the 69 cab. i drill it up 1/2 to let the swithc fit in. i also tried to put the wiper swithc in again and it wasnt deep enough threads to let it fit. i tried 3 swithces and four different bezels nothing would fit right.
i also hooked up the tail light wires to the cab wires.
i did bring down the drivers window and vent window and put them in to match the other door. the engine wiring harness i brought down was wrong so i have to either use the 6 cyl one or get a different one.
i also got the dash vents painted red today. they look real good for just a rattle can job.
i also got part of the heater hoses hooked back up.
ok another parts list of things i didnt take and more that i forgot about
horn
headliner and trim and screws
heater controls
exhaust doughnuts
behind the seat gas tank for a 69 cab. (the one that came out of it).
and i might change the hood for the one chris gave me.
glove box spring and spring button
anteena? if i have one. it is round. oh junkyard time.
rear driveshaft
install speedometer cable

Re: 1970 F100 Extra parts rebuild
i moved the truck to a new location today i also took some ugly pcis of it. i may not be able to do many repairs on the cab and other rust. but i might be able to i dont know. there is a welder down there but no gas and i dont like that welder. it wont keep the wire moving. it gets stuck inside the machine for some reason.
