well here are a few pics, I need to get some new one's now that she is back out of hibernation and had a bath.

Grandpa gave me this truck when i was 14. didn't even have my drivers permit (15 1/2 here in WA). trailered it home and it has been a labor of love ever since. I think i worked on it more in highschool than i spent driving it!
I painted it in highschool autobody, so it has a paint job that was better than when i got it, but still not a very good one. that is when i found out i didn't want to be a body man when i got out of highschool. the next year i took machine shop and knew this is where i was meant to be for now. made some pretty cool stuff for the truck and continue to do that today.
I have been through 4 transmissions(C4, AOD, 2 C6's) and 3 motors(stock 360 threw a rod on start up, junk yard runner 302 to get me by, built 302 senior year of highschool).
I have done all the work on this truck except for the rearend install. I know one thing, my name will never leave the title of this truck until I am 6' under.

I assume you made the gauge cluster? What size and type of gauges did you use?

thanks guys!! it looks so much better now that she had a bath...im going to get some new pics this weekend and get them up here. maybe a little tire smoke pics too...

yeah i made the guage cluster in highschool machine shop, quite the task at the time, now about a 5minute project in the Haas.

I used Autometer Sport Comp guages. the Tach and Speedo are the 3.375" guages and the rest are the 2.062" diameter gugaes.

i love your gauges man. whats the cluster of switches for?

switches are ignition, fuel pump, driving lights under grill, the headlights have some small blue tinted bulbs in them, so thats another switch, and I also have a rear license plate flipper. switch is on, plate is down. go to the track or park it, switch is off and the plate is up. then just some spare switches for down the road.

I think I am going to move that switch bank to the hole in the dash for the radio. clean it up a little.

how does this work when a parking/meter maid is checking plates? you have none apparent, do you get harrassed and towed?

naw, it doesn't go where there would be enforcment like that. even so, i still have a front plate...so what ever info they need, they could get.

did leave the track one night and got pulled over. there is allways a cop sitting at the exit of the track to tag people still being liberal with the skinny pedal. just so happened that i slipped the alt/water pump belt off on the last pass, so i wasn't getting any water flow. saw my temps were climbing as i left the track, so i pulled over right quick and started to jump out to put the belt back on...just so happened the officer was pulling me over simultaniously....lets just say they didn't like that i was trying to exit the vehichle...they were ready to draw...whooops! my bad! they were very understanding once they found out what was going on...they thought the flipper was cool too...
