Yarding hunt for an axle - what should I look for?
Picked up a 67 F100, Ford 9" - I'll double check that. Anyway, looking to replace the whole assembly and not mess with axle shafts since this thing skidded for some distance when it lost a axle shaft. Instead of trying to see if the housing is bent, or any other possible problems, I'd rather just replace the whole thing and not worry about it. I know of a place with a couple of 68-72's. I know the drums vary in size over the years, but other than that, can I just grab whatever 65-72 9" looks good and expect it to bolt the whole assembly into place? I figure if I get the whole thing, less chance to open up a can of worms.

Any of those years will fit, but just forget the '67 and older....they have narrow rear brakes shoes/drums. Go for anything from '68 thru '72 if possible, it'll be a straight bolt-on with the wider rear brakes.

I agree, my '67 has WAY too small of brake pads, it has the same set of brakes that was used on trucks 20 years before, go for '68-72.

Thanks for the offer Cobra, but I decided to part the truck out. Guess I should have mentioned that.
