I had no idea they made such a thing. Someone was thinkin outside of the box in order to come up with that heater control switch.

What are you going to use for a firewall cover??

The top half is the factory fire wall cover. The bottom half is some self adhesive duct insulation stuff that you can get at home depot. I'm covering that with carpet that was cut off the back of the carpet I just put in the cab. For some reason, the carpet you get for our trucks is about 12" too long in the back. You trim that off and you can use it to cover part of the firewall. It will look much better than the rotting firewall cover that was there before.

The only thing left to paint before I drive this thing is the hood. Once that is done, I will bolt it on and take it for a spin to see how the AC works. I will report back to give a final impression.

Ok guys. I took her out last night and drove around with my little girls. I think it is the first time in a long time I have drove around with the windows up. The truck stayed nice and cool. It is great. It was about 95 with about 95% humidity and we were cool in the the white truck.

I have a 200 amp alt and a big taurus fan on my 460. I have it set up where the fan will come on when the AC is on. It works great and keeps the 460 and us nice and cool.

I wrote a huge update but the page expired. Oh well.

I've been driving the truck for a while and I'm getting a constant 38 degrees out of the vents.

My truck:
1997 460 from a E350 with a serpentine belt system.
Old Air Products AC system for 67-72 Ford trucks
1997 taurus fan set on high speed when the coolant temp hits 198 or when the AC is on.
Derale controller and an extra big relay (check fordmuscle.com for details)
200 amp PA performance Alt. It bolted right to the serpentine belt system and works great.

So with the big fan, big alt, and big AC system I can drive my 71 SWB anywhere in Houston and I stay nice and cool.

Good question. I bet you could but it would take some fab work. How does your current fan speed work? That would be the biggest deal. The compressor switch is just a plain spring loaded switch so setting it up to work on a turn knob would be hard to do. You would just put a arm or bump on the turn knob that when the knobs was turned would hit the spring loaded switch behind the dash, turning on the AC system. Fan control is seperate and I don't know enough about the 67 controls to figure it out, but it could be too hard or you could hide the fan control under the dash and leave the stock stuff in place. Mounting the fan control from a 68-72 under your dash would be easy and would plug right in to the Old Air Products harness. That is what I would do.
