taylor351's F100

Post by taylor351 »

Alright.......about 17 months ago I bought this 1969 F100 from a friend. Then I found this website, and my troubles began. You see I thought that I would just keep her simple a little touch up bring her back to the day she rolled off the dealers lot.
Then you guys got involved and I read about disc brake upgrades and power steering and hydro boost breaking systems and air conditioning.

Then the holy grail.......a fuel injection system. Well I looked into all kinds of fuel injection from converting the old 360 to fuel injection to Holley's projection to a 460 torque stomping monster. But alas I settled :D ( yeah settled) on a 1996 ford F250 5.0 and a M5R2 5 speed.

Oh and a 1993 mustang fuel injection system. 8) 8)

You guys are going to cost me alot of money fixing this ole girl up. :nono:

BTW if you are considering this swap.......... DO IT !!!!!!!!!! OMG this thing is hot....maybe not the fastest thing I have owned, but the fastest seat of the pants thing I have owned. Do not listen to the naysayers. 5.0 with M5R2 and a 3.00(?)to 1 rear end is a fun vehicle.
I just got her home yesterday I am still working the bugs out......gonna need alot of help for some simple fix items, but she's gonna be great.
I don't know what I am going to do next maybe get front disc and power steering fixed((next year) wife is saying I spent to enough on her this year :D ) :fr:

oh and pics of the truck.

Thats a pretty slick old pickup. What kind of bugs need worked out? The reason i ask is my dad just did this same swap on his 72 Mustang and its running like smashed ass. Im sure its a electrical problem because its a wiring nightmare.

The temp sensor is from the 96 pickup and will need to be changed for the 69 also the oil pressure sensor is the same. The alt gauge never moves and I need to figure out how to get my speedometer to work. :help: I believe the 96 M5R2 is completely electronic.

As far as the motor itself no problems that I have noticed so far. I bought the wiring harness that Ford Fuel Injection advertises through BC Broncos. Along with their dual fuel pump setup.

(edit)I also have to figure out where to have the computer go into the firewall, and secure it down. I have about 100 miles on it in the 2 days that I have owned it. :D Gotta to have a reason to "test" the truck   :D

Oh and I forgot :hmm: that eventually I will need to have an electric fan for the radiator.

Maaaan, yours is doing better than dads then. He has all the gauges and stuff working. His pops back through the T/B when accelerating at low RPM. Baaaad! If you mash it to the floor and shift it your self to keep the revs up it does fine. The motor and trans came out of a Lincoln Town Car. Hes put a 331 stroker kit, Trick Flow heads and lots of other stuff. He also used most of the wiring harness from the Lincoln. Im thinking thats where the problem is. Hes talking about ordering the Painless kit and redoing the whole thing.

Check out http://fordfuelinjection.com/ it has got a lot of good info. I really read up on this before I got it. I wanted the fuel injection done right a reliable vehicle to use every day.

http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=21 I got the top one.

http://www.bcbroncos.com/fuelefi.html Bought it from here, along with the 2 fuel pumps and the accumulator. We ended up buying a new computer.....his discount was about $100 or so. The painless might work but I know this one does and you can read the instructions before buying a plus for me.

I eventually would like to go bigger ci 331 or so, maybe supercharged, maybe.....dreaming to much again.

Cool costs money and I'm not that cool.
