Wait i thought all lifter/rocker pushrod engines had Valve lash? :dk: :help: Did/ do the FE's not have a valve lash?

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

if it is an fe and has some "ticking" it is probably an exhaust leak.

Ya the FE's have hydraulic lifters so they self adjust..except very early 352ci FE's (I think). My thought was because it sat for nine years without being run one of the lifter's is stuck in whatever position it stopped in nine years ago..so it's ticking. It's not an exhaust leak, my F100 has one of those and that's a much slower and lower pitched puh-puh-puh sound.. not the typical faster higher pitched tat-tat-tat valvetrain sound.

At any rate my intention is to pull this motor and at very least replace all the gaskets. I'll likely to some port work and put in a good low RPM torquey cam like CompCams K33-221-3. Maybe something a little more aggressive but not to much. This is gonna be a lower-RPM stump puller type rig so no need to rev to the moon.. any other suggestions to help in the torque department? I'll be adding quite a bit of weight by lengthening the frame and adding the bed, as well as PTO driven hydraulic pump for the winch, etc.--plus actually you know, putting a car on the bed.. haha.
