They're MUCH more detailed than a Chiltons....it's what the mechanics use, so they've got to include more info than "take it to a licensed mechanic" like Chiltons is fond of saying. They're definitely worth the money spent!

The PS box is easy to remove. Just disconnect the steering column at the rag joint, use a tie-rod removal tool to pop the steering linkage off the Pitman arm, remove the two PS lines and then remove the 3 hold-down bolts. You might find it easier to reinstall if you loosen the steering column too, and slide it up away from the PS box a little bit. There are a couple bolts to loosen at the bottom lip of the dash and one clamp on the outer firewall, which clamps the column end to the firewall bracket.

Don't worry, no special tools needed. If you've got a basic tool setup of ratchets, sockets and wrenches you have all you need.

And about a 4 pound shop hammer. flarenut wrenches are also a big help. Sometimes regular end wrenches don't work so well on the power steering hoses.

Yup, you might need a BFH to vibrate the end off. They are tapered a bit and need a little persuaion to come sometimes.

I showed the hammer I was going to use to my truck and the pitman fell off by itself almost.
