not a Ford...442 Racing vid "Son of Hairy"

Post by turbocharged400sbc »

I have finally finished the 442 Vid with footage from UMM3....
425ci - 4 wheel drive - 2 engines
PB of 13.81 at just over 98 mph with 1.9s 60 foot times
and this was on a 90* day with close to 60% humidity!
3100 V6 in the front and a 3800 V6 in the back
both factory stock except for porting work and some of my own trans mods

she is our modern version of the original Hurst "Hairy" Olds 442 that had TWO blown 425 ci V8's and could roast the tires the whole way down the track!

here it is....its much cleaner than this...putfile must be compressing it...

whatcha think? 8)

This winter the rear 3800 gets turbocharged and hopefully we find a 3800 for the front... :D

Thanks guys the car was totaly worth it! a little over 3 grand invested (most of that in the rollcage/safety equipment (5 pt harness') and in the massivly overbuilt fuel system (450lbhr at 100psi-Aeromotive/Magnaflow) as we planned ahead for two 3800's with a turbocharger on each....

the car does go straight nicly but she does give new meaning to the term Tq steer! she is within 1/32 of an inch square (measure 5 times cut/weld once  ) this winter she's getting the turbocharger and we are redoing alot of the chassis now that the 10pt rollcage is in...we shiould be able to drop 200lbs easy! I do wish we could get two new W body aluminum subframes...be even lighter

have any of ya seen the footage of the original Hurst "Hairy" Olds 442?
that car was wicked! I only hope that we can live up to the legacy that Hurst built back then....but in a modern package...

Thanx guys! this thing is sooo fun on the street! plus we get great mileage with the rear engine off...discplacment on demand baby! LOL

Did you ever tell those poor saps in the monte carlo what you were running, and that it wasnt just a 3100 with no muffler?

actually the only person who didnt know about the 442 was the impala driver (3400) he came over to us after we schooled him by over 4 seconds and was WTF?!? what the hell doya have? so we poped the front hood and he said "NO WAY!"...then we told him we had a power adder in the trunk..."Nitrous?" then we poped the rear hood (trunk lid-lol) "HOLY ****!" his eye's were as big as plates! lol was sooo worth it! he had just thought that we had removed the exhaust...i dont know how as the exhaust note is weird...two 6 cylinder engines idling at different speeds...the front through a flomaster 2 chamber and the rear an open down pipe....
BTW the black supercharged MonteCarlo (L67) that we ran against had 4 grand in the engine and we beat him to the 1/8th mile but he had us by just under .5 seconds on the top end...at the same trap speed!
This car is a blast!

Twin turbo 3800s should let you duplicate the 4 wheel quarter mile burnout of the HHO. That will be a wild ride.

hey if GNationals can make 900 Hp with one turbocharged 3.8

we should go plenty fast with two Turbocharged 3800's!

My new Sig...that i cant use here lol

once i get a nice vid together with some more track time i will be sending it to Hurst...see if they will sponsor us or at least let us ude that beutiful gold and black paint job the original has...

would be sweet!

I am sooo gonna turn my 87 Lebaron GTS into a twin engine 2.2L Turbo car....I cant let Al have all the fun!
