Noob with another question
I had a couple of questions -
I found a 67 hood to replace my rusted 69 for $50. From what I have read, there are some minor differences within the trunk but there is no difference in exterior appearance. Is this correct and will the 67 hood fit?
The same seller also has the side mouldings for a 67. Are they the same as the 69? Probably not. But if it's a good deal should I pick them as well?
Thanks

Re: Noob with another question
the hoo dis the same except for the skeleton under neath. so it will fit fine. the 67 trim is 1 1/4 wide were the 69 trim could be the 1 1/2 wide or the 3 1/2 wide stuff depending on the model of the truck. is that the parts truck? or is that your truck? we seen that truck on ebay. that is a 69 ranger with no belt line trim. but it does have the lower trim. which is the same for every truck that used it. including the 73-79 trucks. if they used it.

Re: Noob with another question
those look like 16 inch wheels and not the 16.5 wheels. since the truck is a F250 it woul dhave 8 lugs so they wouldnt be 15 inch wheels.

Also the emblems on the 67 hood are shorter than the 68-72 emblems, so the holes won't line up.

Re: Noob with another question
I think the mounting studs are the same for the longer '68-72' emblems (with the reflectores in them) as with the shorter ones without the reflectores. The hood that I bought for my truck had F250 long emblems on it when I bought it and I swapped them out for some F100 short emblems. It's been over 10 years but I don't remember having to drill any holes. I might be wrong though. It has happened before.Doug F wrote:Also the emblems on the 67 hood are shorter than the 68-72 emblems, so the holes won't line up.

THIS IS A COPY / PASTE of Keith's info located here.
There are two different styles of chrome hood letters. The 1967- 1969 style is smaller and has small ribs which run horizontally through each letter. The later style doesn't have the ribs and has a satin-like finish inside each letter. The '67-'69 style is pressed onto clips in the hood, whereas the '70-'72 style is held onto the hood with nuts from the backside.
In this photo, the '67-'69 style is on bottom and the '70-'72 version is shown on top. Because of the difference in size and mounting pin location, they are not interchangeable.
All that said, 67 will be fine on a 69 and it's lettering.
Across the board, the only real difference from the exterior is the lettering. My 69 has a 70 to 72 hood, which I hope to swap for a 67 to 72 later, just for the lettering (or I can just repair and redrill).......... Either way, it's a minor difference and not applicable in his year model truck to donor.

Hey Freaky, That information pertains to the letters.
Doug F was talking about the emblems and that is what I replied to. The letters where never mentioned.

Yah, sorry should have been more specific. Was trying to show that the only exterior difference was the lettering on the hood.
