My '69 2wd Crew Cab Project
Whats up guys
Decided to make a build thread of my new project. Its a Canadian built '69 F250 Crew Cab 2wd, Factory 360,Power steering and brakes with a C6. I plan to make this my daily driver when finished. Plans are Long bed conversion, Fresh 390-C6, new paint, interior and a nice sound system also a few other goodies like LED lights and a power inverter to name a few. Im basically going to go all through it and freshen everything up.
It has a couple decent rust spots on it but nothing too severe, I was mostly worried about the floor pan from the back of the front doors, it turned out to have less rust than I thought. I do need to replace the inner fenderwells and core support but I should have a good set by next week.
Getting this thing home was quite a challenge, picked up a harbor freight tow bar for $47 and it wasnt the as good of a deal as I thought. After purchasing the truck and geting it connected to my F100. I started off down the highway towards home (90 miles one way) once I got into 2nd gear at about 20 mph the crew started steering the rear of my truck all over the road. It got so bad that it almost pushed me into oncoming traffic at 20 mph!! So here I am 90 miles away from home without any other way to tow this thing back and I notice the front right tire is low. Well since I was out in the middle of no where their wasnt a gas station for about 10 miles, I had to drive 10 mph for 10 miles and yes it took an hour to get there pretty much . I was holding up atleast 50 cars every mile I went so was pulling over alot to let them by. So I finally get to the station and you can probably guess what happens next..... NO AIR! So I had to get back on the two lane highway and drive another two miles and I finally find some air, filled up the front tires and ate some lunch. After lunch I get back on the road and no difference! At this point Iam pretty frustrated and I asked myself how bad do I really want this thing? Well... I decided to drive the full 90 miles home taking surface streets at around 15-20 mph the whole way . On top of this, the route that I had planned to go was a no go, there was a bridge out, so the only way to get home was to drive through the heart of seattle. The whole time I was sure either the u joints or the tow bar was going to fail going up all those steep hills but the old f100 did just fine. It took 2 hours to drive down there and 13 to drive back.
Once I got the crew home safely I decided to check the alignment and sure enough the toe in was wayyyy off. It was toed out so bad that it wore the front tire's down a little which explains why it was swerving back and forth. If I would have known I would have just dropped it off at an alignment shop on the way home, but oh well its home now and I can finally start working on it!!
The wrong size front tire
and back home
Interior removed and some rust
support rusted in half

Looks like a good start. We also used a tow bar when bringing home my 70 except it wasn't a harbor freight one. Looking at thoose pictures I see a CB Radio hagning under that dash if you don't want it I'll take it off your hands. I'm kind of a CB nut.

Re: My '69 2wd Crew Cab Project
Thanks guys, Definatley the best $300 Ive ever spent
FordTruck, the cb still operates but the speaker is bad in it, Ill let you have it for the cost to ship to you if your still interested.
Also took a closer look at the title today and I guess its was owned by greenwater logging out there in Enumclaw. Explains why there were so many logging stickers on the glovebox.
Yesterday I threw a battery in it and some fresh gas and it fired right up! I was told by the previous owner that the trans was slipping when it was parked years ago, I had the rear part of the driveshaft disconnected so I put it through all the gears and it all seems to be working. The trans is weak but hopefully there's no broken parts when I go to rebuild it.
I'll be pulling the motor out tomorrow morning so Ill have some more pics for you guys.

Re: My '69 2wd Crew Cab Project
Worked on my buddies '75 pinto today has 60,000 original miles had to re-set the timing belt on the 2.3. Once I finished that up I started working on the crew around noon. Here's how much I did today with it.
Buddys Pinto, Original paint! Its super clean.
Front clip pulled
Found some more rust
Gonna throw the front bumper back on it in a few min, and go make a mess at the car wash.

A little update on the crew....
I havnt really been able to work on it since the 21st my dad has been using the garage to do his engine swap on his buick so hopefully in a couple days I can work on pulling the cab off and starting on the metal work.
I did recieve my rebuild and shift kit for my C6 today so Im gonna try to make some room in the garage and hopefully get to workin on it again.

Re: My '69 2wd Crew Cab Project
I spent most of the day yesterday cleaning up and making room in the garage and decided since it was nice outside I put the front suspension back on the frame so I can move it around. Today I started taking the dash apart almost every bolt on this truck is so rusty it just breaks off so I had to cut most of them out. Once that mess was out of the way I started on the rust repair slowly but surely its becoming a solid truck again......
gonna tow this over to the pressure washer down the road tomorrow and get it ready for sandblasting, hopefully this time it wont act crazy when I try to tow it. Ill be using my dads turbo diesel to tow it this time instead of the f100.

Re: My '69 2wd Crew Cab Project
Driverside should be finished up tomorrow, and man it sure was rusty! The passenger side is rusted in the same places but not as bad as the driver side was. But its starting to come back to life! Passenger floor pan and cab mount should be here tomorrow hopefully. If not Ill start on stripping off the three coats of paint and a ton of bondo.
