Got a 3rd project today!
So I've got the race truck that needs constant upgrades/prep for this busy desert season this summer....
I've got the highboy that i need to restore the whole chassis this summer....
I'm going to be busy!
So let's buy another project!
Here it is:
yes, hardtail edition
IT's a 70's something TT500. I am going to be taking it to the bare metal frame and restoring it to its original glory.
It's going to be the bike that we bring to the desert races for multiple reasons. One being for getting around the pits, another for getting around the course to take pictures, another to get parts to the middle of the course in the middle of no where to fix our broken truck in the race, and finally to shuttle us back to main pit when the racer breaks while out on the course.
It's from the same guy that owne'd the '69 (now the highboy)... my boss at hte welding shop. We had a huge sale this weekend and he grabbed all his old bikes and put them for sale so i grabbed this one, i like its cool old schoolness! He also had many other older dirt bikes.... a TT600 that i got running again, a perfect condition old triumph, then other bikes include a couple ducati's, a circle track bike, etc. I'll be working off $200 worth for the bike.
It should be done in a month or so... that's the plan

Hardtail dirt bike? Pretty neat little ride. The 500 should make it scoot pretty good...

Re: Got a 3rd project today!
Thanks guys! Yep, hardtail edition
Hal got rid of the shocks for whatever reason so when we dug the bikes out ofthe shop we made some steel replacements. Well i came across a set of old school FOX nitrogen shocks that Hal said were the hot thing to get for these bikes back then to replace the stock coilover shocks. So I went and grabbed them today and tore them apart... I'm going to find some new seals and rebuild them!
So besides getting the shocks i have also bought a coil, new points, and a new air cleaner... as soon as the coil hits my porch i shold have this thing running!!! I can't wait to ride it!
I'm going to pull the carb and clean it after school tomorrow probably.

Sweet bike. Being in my 40's I remember those bikes when I was riding moto-cross back in the 70's.
Have fun with it.

Geez Ryan, you're gettin to be as bad as I am about pickin up new things to tinker with! Only difference is you've probably got more time to devote to them. Anyways, neat old bike! $200 well spent I would say.
Be careful; when it comes to old bikes it's easy to get sucked in!

Re: Got a 3rd project today!
Should I make a project thread of the TT500 so you guys can watch me do the frame off "restore" I'm doing right now? I'm not sure where it would be long though. I think it's too off topic for the project section. Hmmm
