Re: Darlin, a 69 Ranger SWB
on ure tranny issue it brings back memories of when i had my 77 289 3 on the tree.. i miss that truck it would always hang up in gear until my dad hung a carb spring off a brake line and connected to the 1 gear lever after that it never hung up again. I like auto much better then those 3spd tranny get a c6 with a shift kit and it will be fun..if u gotta bang ure gears i would go with a world class 5sp.
buy'em dirty sale'em clean
get more money for the same

Thanks! That's one we're looking at. It actually qualifies for my 10% discount and may well be the way I go. Dunno yet.OldRedFord wrote:I like the offerings that O'Reilly's has.
$229.99 No experience with this one but its copper and brass, 3 row.

Thanks!! She's no picture of beauty, but she's sure a beauty to me! I've got a little more body work to do and then I'll be ready for paint Many more hours into getting her as she is than I care to think about. The sad thing is that most of it's only noticeable if you study the vehicle.austin wrote:your truck looks really good i cant beliv i didnt look at it sooner
keep up the good work
Thanks bud, but I'm done with the T5 all together. I've killed several now, including WCs, and behind engines FAR less torque happy than Darlin. For what it would take to mate a WC to an FE, I wouldn't bother. I'm actually on the lookout for a toploader. If I can't find one, I'll just rebuild the 3.03 and put the shift back on the column. FWIW, the WC is quite capable of handling HP in it's ratings, but torque will kill one in a hurry. If I had a Windsor in a bump, I'd very likely want a WC behind it though.timmytim wrote:on ure tranny issue it brings back memories of when i had my 77 289 3 on the tree.. i miss that truck it would always hang up in gear until my dad hung a carb spring off a brake line and connected to the 1 gear lever after that it never hung up again. I have a 4 core from NPD and love it. Or DID love it when it was together, you can't go wrong with a 4 core.

Re: Darlin, a 69 Ranger SWB
Not a true update, rather an update on other things.
I've not been on much of late and most likely wont for a while yet.
Some of you may remember that my Nephew, Seth was killed a short while back and well, I've not done so well with it even to date.
Now my Niece (his Sister), Tiffany has been in a very bad wreck. She's requiring multiple surgeries and will never again be back to where she was before it all. Sadly, drugs WERE involved and I'm sick to death with worry, while being down right ill to a similar extent over the drugs and a few other poor choices.
At any rate, all monies are gone and Darlin will have to remain on the backburner for a bit longer.
Sorry for a melodramatic post, but figured I'd at least let people know that I'll not be around for a bit.
Frank

Ditto, family first, just don't let it overwhelm you or you'll be the next one hurting.
Good thing about these trucks, they're patient as can be.
