Re: Things that go bump in your town
I found a sweet little 71' stepside this past Tuesday pretty close to me. Looks like it's been sitting for awhile now. If I don't have to move, maybe I can make him an offer. Looks pretty decent:

Looks like it has some sort of winch bumper on the front of it.

That step also has late model rear fenders on it. Personally I like the old bubble fenders myself, just saw a '72 F100 short step side on the way to work today in fact, they're rare out this way.
PS - By the grille that truck is a '72 as well.

Re: Things that go bump in your town
Good evening! I really admire all the great photos of random Bumpsides y'all have collected here!
After reminding myself about how great a lot of these photos are, the photos I'm posting now seem silly (at least the quantity of photos of the same truck). Kasie took these with her iPhone while I was driving erratically to keep up with it!
I was only able to get photos from behind, but I saw the front. It had a 1971 grille on it, and its engine sounded a little rattly (or so I thought, in the midst of lots of traffic noise).
These photos were taken in Mountain View, California, on San Antonio Road nearby East Charleston Road (about a block away from the Mountain View Costco Wholesale).
On the photos that turned out better, I made sure to blur the license plate as a courtesy to its owner.
You can click on any of these photos for larger, uncropped versions:

Thanks for looking!

This one was at that place I don't care to mention, sitting near the gas station today.

Re: Things that go bump in your town
Good day John!
Here's another Bumpside I saw today. Kasie and I wandered up a tiny, one lane road that goes to a rural church in North Salinas, and this truck was parked outside.
There were a couple of cars around the church and I didn't want to make them nervous, so I didn't get out and look at it more closely. But I could see that it had a 1967 hood and an aluminum grille. You can click on this photo for a full-size version (which doesn't show much more).

Thanks for writing John!

Oh I see, that's excellent John! I lived in Palo Alto for three years so I know the area well. Do you like the burrito bar behind the market on the corner of Middlefield and Rengstorff? Those are my favorite burritos on the world.64squire wrote:Hello robroy, small world. I work right behind those new buildings in this pic at Space Systems/Loral

Yes, La Bamba, they are very good. There is another one on the other side called Los Altos Taquera that is excellent.Oh I see, that's excellent John! Is it a short bed? I'm looking for one to buy as my son's first car. Here's another Bumpside I saw today. Kasie and I wandered up a tiny, one lane road that goes to a rural church in North Salinas, and this truck was parked outside.

Good afternoon John, sorry for my late reply!
Here's a truck Kasie and I saw today in Capitola, California, nearby the Albertson's on Bay Avenue. It appeared to be a 1968 F250 with a 390 and a C6; it was in very nice driving condition!

Oh great! Thanks for letting me know. I might give it a whirl next time I'm in the area.64squire wrote:Yes, La Bamba, they are very good. There is another one on the other side called Los Altos Taquera that is excellent.
Sorry, but I don't remember if I got a good enough look at it to tell. There weren't any signs that it was for sale, but I could go snoop around there again if you were particularly interested in it for any reason! It's just five minutes from my house.64squire wrote:Is it a short bed? I'm looking for one to buy as my son's first car.

I've been driving by this one near my son's high school for a few years now. Finally got a picture. Looks pretty straight, but neglected. Oh, it's in Campbell, CA.

This is for sale in Victorville, Ca at a body shop. I drive by it every day on my way to and from work/school. It is extremely straight and very original. The inside is nice too. F350, and it still has bias ply tires on it! I think it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
