Re: Memorial Day
Tim,
Thanks man, seems like even I need reminded sometimes. The second is my favorite, but both Charlie and the Duke's version should put goosebumps down everyone's spine here!
Many thanks from this 3rd generation DD 214 veteran to those who gave it all, (and their families for the ultimate sacrifice)!
Happy Memorial Day to all here on Fordification!
Fire up the grill let's eat!

Re: Memorial Day
DD214. Been a while since I heard that in a conversation.
My wife and I are both 1st generation veterans. My son is not interested in joining but my daughter is leaning that way after college.
This is the day to remember all of those that served and cannot talk about it today. The ones that gave their lives so some of these idiots have the right to protest at the funeral of a fallen solider.
May they all rest in peace

Re: Memorial Day
DD 214 will be somthing I will see later on down the road. My father, on the other hand has his after 25 years of service. He was in both of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He will be turning 80 next month. I have two uncles that were in Vietnam as well, but very junior to him in age. One older cousin that was in the Gulf War. All where physically injured insome sort or manner besides being menatally scarred. My father though has many scars that go from the front to the back from puncture wounds on his left side. He told me when I was a child that he got them in an accident when he was younger. Not until after my 1st tour in Iraq he told me that he and his buddies were in a village in Korea and it had gotten overran by VC and he ran out of ammunition and it came down to hand to hand combat for him and some of his friends. My uncle has small pieces of shrapnel in his stomach area and in his thighs from a land mine that went off. I know I'm not the only one that has family or friends like the people that where in a war of somesort, but unless you know these Soldiers on a one on one basis some want tell there stories. My father now has Alzheimer's and some times can't remember what he had for breakfast, but by God he can still tell you to a tee about those damn wars. Somthings a Soldier will never forget. God bless em!!!!

Re: Memorial Day
Good stuff guys!
In the heat of battle we fight for ourselves, our comrades, and the innocents around us. But those who fight realize the importance of freedom for all. Through freedom comes peace. There has to be a very special place for those who die fighting for the freedom of others.
