my new fifty buck truck!

Post by 390Nut »

Just got a `73 F100 pretty much given to me by my nephew. Not too bad of condition, power steering/disc brakes, 4 spd (looks like a New Process) and a `68 390 4V that appears to be out of a car based on the emissions stuff on the intake (most of which is plugged off, due to the edelbrock on top). Runs pretty good but has major exhaust leaks, and is definitely lacking in power compared to the engine in my `69.

Going to pull the front suspension, tranny, engine, and the wheels, and make a trailer out of it, I think...

Good for you but that truck looks way to nice to be turned into a trailer. IMHO

Yeah, but I need the conversion parts more than another truck; power disc brakes, the tranny (mines shot) the clutch/brake pedals (also shot) and having a good running spare engine is always nice. Besides, I have use for a decent utility trailer, and with the interior condition of the truck, along with the "rigged" wiring and body cancer, I can't get a lot out of it as it sits. There are just too many old vehicles for sale out there, and noone is buying much these days. Also, the wheels are probably worth more than the rest of the truck, selling wise, and they'll be going on the `69 once they're cleaned up and I get new treads for them.

ihate killing good trucks. but for the price it is worth what you paid for it. i guess you could swap back on the old parts from your bump and resell thewhole truck to someone.

if it was a bump it would be a different matter. That it is a dent, and the perfect donor for the parts I need, it's not as much of a sacrifice (at least for me).

Cant save em all. Just think of all the gas you'll be saving by taking parts off of this truck instead of driving around looking for the individual parts. I've got to go get an '88 wrecked hard in the front missing engine for $125 and plan the same route as you with the trailer and use parts on my '86. tnbumper

I have a couple of old trucks that would make some good trailers. Thats not a bad idea come to think of it.

They are waaay past the point of saving :(

I have a dent now. I'd like to pick at the carcass when you are done feeding. :D

Wish I had seen this sooner, Pat, especially depending on what you're after. Front end is now, ermmm, well, lets just say the grill and core support are no more usable than a pet rock.

Let me know, depending on my landlord my plans might change and it will have to go away in a hurry.

Sent you a PM.
