With the 7.3, nothing. It was a good engine. Not a super powerhouse, but a stout, reliable diesel none the less.

The 6.0 & 6.4 are garbage. They've cost Ford MILLIONS in warranty work & ultimately lead up to the separation of Ford & Navistar.

Papabug, I agree and disagree with ya.

I agree the 7.3 was a great motor, though mine left me on the side of the road with a broken high pressure oil pump. But that was around 160k miles and that kind of stuff happens.
I believe that the 6.0 liter alone was the downfall with the Ford/International relationship and the ongoing sage kept them together until the death of the 6.4 this year. The 6.0 has been plauged with problems, half of them I personally attribute to the the owners. But keep in mind the rush to market with the large volume of Ford diesels sold. I have heard estimates of Ford out selling the other two by 3 times. I have had two 6 liters and no problems yet and I take great care of my trucks.

I don't believe there is anything inherently wrong with the 6.4 liter other then poor fuel milage and the emmsion issues that have also plauged the emissions equiped Cummins and Duramax. The emssison systems (DPF) is a relatively new concept though too with bugs I am sure they will work out eventually.

It broke before I could get it in deeper mud. Yeah its got some werid camber problem I'm working on and theres nothing wrong with a 7.3 powerstroke but I'm more of a cummins fan.

i'll agree to that. My boss has a 6.0 & its been total crap from the day he drove it off the lot. I've talked to a couple of guys here in town that also have them, bone stock & have nothing but problems. Owners that can afford to go thru them & fix all the bugs have reported that they are great & the guys that bomb them say they will scoot. The main problem with them that I know of were injectors & head bolts. Im not a big fan of the common rail CTD's either. A good friend at work has a 07 Dodge mega cab 5.9 & its been a royal POS since new. It burns up injectors on a monthly basis & its been completely rewired by Chrysler TWICE. They still dont know whats wrong with it. My next door neighbor bought a 09 dodge last year, with the 6.7 & it broke down on him literally on the way home from the dealer. It was in the shop 37 of the 90 days he owned it, & finally got rid of it with the lemon law. Even the guy Cummins sent down to look at it didnt know what was wrong with it !!

Bottom line is, they just dont make em' like they use to.

Finally got started back on the highboy after almost selling it to a guy who kept emailing me and coming by the house wanting it welp when it came time for him to come by with the cash he never showed. So its been sitting in the drive way with carb problems I finally got the somewhat figured out and its back to running under its own power. While it had been sitting I started to do more with the black on the interior and thinking about ordering black cab lights and having my friend black out the marker and tail lights. I also finally got around to taking off the flatbed and now I'm working on trying to find a normal bed and I installed my slider rear window I saved from my old CS that I junked. Hopefully monday I'll be starting a full time job and after saving up to move out I'll hopefully be able to throw some money at the messed up front end

I've done just a little more work on the green bean and I've decided to just make the truck an off road rig. I did a shackle flip on the rear to get a little lift and I'm thinking about building me some latter bars for the rear cause the rear end seems to have alot of axle wrap when you let it out the clutch. Next I gotta figure out a lift for the front.

Did you check that front axle to see if it had camber bushings? I have seen some topsteer fronts with aligment bushings. If thats what you have then that bushing may have turned and that why it's way out.

I agree, thats why my newest truck is my 94. I LOVE my bump and at 42 years old and with 163,000 she starts faithfully, runs great, pulls hard, and after sitting 10 years in a barn! If fuel didnt cost so much it would be my daily driver.

It's been awhile since I've messed with the truck up til recently its seemed that everything that can go wrong will and after getting fired from my job and a friend of ming that was closer than a sister to me did me wrong and quit talking to me so I decided to say f@#k her and the rest of the people who have done the same I'll just put all my energy into my truck it can't leave me  . So anyways I finally got my hands on a welder and started to install my captian seats out of one of my dads old vans in the highboy I also started to make a headache rack for when I get a bed. Other than that I installed a brush gaurd and some new cab lights I got a the swap meet and also blacked the center of my wheels but I did manage to screw up my transmission because its had a problem with 3rd gear grinding so I pulled the cover off and now I can't get the cover back on :x . But that's that and more to come my b-day is friday so I'm hoping for a different front end to loose that camber problem or a motor for my blaster  but more to come.
