All Ford Show at Carlisle PA with pics

Post by Ranchero50 »

Good warm / hot sweaty day to attend a show. I brought my '68 ranchero up, put it in the show for $50 and plan on going tomorrow to check out the cars since you get in for free when you enter a car / truck.

Since it's the 2010 show they had three '70 F100's at the invitational building with low miles, all three were explorers with the funky plaid seats. Oddly, none had the FoMoCo script headlights like mine does and the yellow one had horrible orange peel on the hood. It was also a cobra jet factory drag car reunion. Several of the original '68 CJ racers were there as well as a couple 2008s and at least one 2010 racer. There was also an original MkII GT40 and three newer GT's, original AC Cobras and enough high riser 427's and Boss 9's to satisfy any needs. The show field was half full (which is rare on a Friday)

Pics are in no particular order.

This one had 100 miles on it if memory serves.

You don't realize just how small these cars are until you see them next to the newer ones.

Wonder how they explain the lack of script lights? Guess that note about a hood respray on the blue one explains the missing chrome, but why? From other pics I've seen of both the yellow and blue one I'd say the yellow was the more honest of the two for originality. Sure be nice to find one of that handful of street GT40s that they made.

Well, I don't know. They are both owned by the guy who owns National Parts Depot. I hadn't noticed the chrome missing, kind of hard to cover the holes from the factory so something happened... There was also a dent, '74 or 76 I think that had little 14" bias plys on with only a few miles but it just didn't look right, looked like a repaint. The green truck had the engine bay flat blacked, it was obvious. Each of the interiors looked good though so who knows...
