50/50 penetrating oil
I dont remember if I got the idea from someone here or over at the A body site I visited when I had the Duster. If you guys are ever looking for a good penetrating oil, like PB blaster or open & shut try this out.
Mix 50% type F tranny fluid with 50% acetone in a big heavy duty squirt bottle. This stuff is like MAGIC ! I never made any of it untill this afternoon. I needed something to help with the original, never removed ubolts on the truck. This stuff will actually attack gunk in threads & kinda foam up. Like peroxide does on a cut, if you will.
I'll never buy PB blaster again

Re: 50/50 penetrating oil
I'll have to mix some up and try it. I was in a parker hydraulics showroom today and they had a big loctite display with a new(er) product that's 1/2 penetrant and 1/2 freeze spray. Supposedly, you spry the stuck part, it freezes to a rediculously cold temp and somehow allows the oil to get in between the parts better as it warms up. Supposed to break anything loose in 1-2 minutes. Anyone try this stuff?

Never herd of it. Is it made by locktite ?? I'll have to keep an eye out for it.
On a side note, I've been using this 50-50 stuff for the last couple of days on my rear spring project & I must say, it's nasty as hell. It makes a hell of a mess. Works good tho

Re: 50/50 penetrating oil
I read somewhere that a magazine did a test on penetrating oils and the 50-50 mix won. They rusted 5 bolt-nut combos and used a torque wrench to see which took the least energy to break after soaking in pen oil. If I remember correctly 50-50 was best, then Kano Kroil, them Liquid Wrench, then P Blaster, then WD 40.
The difference was substancial too. Kroil took around 125 ft lbs while the 50-50 took like 60 ft lbs. The WD took over 200 ft lbs.

Re: 50/50 penetrating oil
Well, be sure you put it in something strong. I mixed up a bottle of it in a $8 dollar "heavy duty" plastic spray bottle no more than a month ago.
I opened up my cabinet tonight & it had ate thru the bottom of the plastic bottle & leaked all over everything. What a mess
I guess i'll put it in a metal oil can from now on

Re: 50/50 penetrating oil
I use a small glass bottle and an acid/flux brush.
Been putting it on some salt road/rust-belt RUSTY bolts for a week now... we will see how much it helps when I go to pull it all apart.

Re: 50/50 penetrating oil
I remember when BobbyFord made a post about the 50/50 mix and showed the lab results of different peneterents compared to it, I tryed it myself. It dosent like to stay mixed up very well but will knock the bond right out of some rust. i keep some in a old oil squirt can and just give it a good shake before useing it. Ive tryed it on some cruddy rusty stuff and it will get in there and break it lose. If someone could figure out a way to keep it mixed and put it in a can thay would be a multi millionare.

Re: 50/50 penetrating oil
We could just put a label on there that says "Shake well before use"

Re: 50/50 penetrating oil
I have used that ATF/Acetone mix also. I think it works great. I did notice the separation of the fluids you talked about. So i just give it a shake before i use it.
