Did you read what I wrote? A 3 phase motor absolutely, positively will not self start on single phase power. it has to have help to start. Capacitor starting is the same as pony starting or pull starting it, except it burns the motor up in time.
Not getting into a pissin match with you, my point is you don't need a rope to start it. I agree with you single phase won't start a 3 phase motor, I have had my RPC with a start circut for 6-7 years and it hasn't burned up my pony motor.

If you saw it in person you'd laugh at what is being talked about. It's not that complicated. In the overall scheme of things the starting and balancing of a rotary phase converter is far more complicated that how it actually works.

You can also use a Variable Frequency Drive. They take single phase power to operate and then output it as 3 phase. I know drives got somewhat of a bad name in the past but recently I went to a factory training on yaskawa drives and they are an excellent product. The guys at work that do a lot of drive stuff like them and don't have much trouble with them.
