your truck is a 6900 Pound gvw truck it was built in august of 1969 which was the last run of the 69 model trucks. before the new line of trucks were made for the next years sales. if yo u notice your truck has a dso code of 72 XXXX which means the truck was special ordered and the special order was completed in San Jose ca. the "N" under body seems to be out of place or has no meaning to me. but i do not know everything about these codes. however a guess : N stands for norway green. your truck was built as a conventional cab. so it would have had a regular ford bed on the truck and not a cab and chassis truck with no bed or a ice cream truck. yes ice cream truck.

one question i can ask is if the truck looks like it may have been a government or contractor fleet type of truck? from old stickers or something? the reason i ask is because old government type use trucks were all sent some place to be special made for the government use when purchased. so the color code would have been left off the vin tag because the truck would have been a special order paint job also. government colors of whatever department ordered the truck. such as forestry green or highway yellow or white official business. you get what i mean by those examples. the way to tel for positive about the original color is to have http://www.martiauto.com get a vin decode done on you vin tag and number along with the special order number on that vin tag. they would be able to tell you if it was a special government or other business special order or paint job.

I bought this truck from the grandson of the original owner. The original owner worked at Moffett Field in Mountain View, Ca. im not sure if that has anything to do with that though. By the way, the interior is a kind of light mettalic green paint that is still in very good shape.

Very interesting. As fordman said, the DSO # indicates a special order from a customer. IIRC, the DSO# on a special order is actually the invoice #. This means someone went to the dealer & sat down & checked off what he/she/they/ actually wanted on the truck & Ford built it specially for them.

You should send it off to Marti & get a report. It might be something super uncommon

PS, :wel: to the site !!!
