Exhaust time.

Post by R.Smith »

I'm planning on dropping the spaer tank over the weekend to make room for the daul exhaust next week. So, the question is, what mufflers should I go with?

Glaspaks, Flowmasters or something else.

I had glaspaks on the 71 and I don't remember them being overly loud. The single muffler on the truck now is a flowmaster. I don't want to set off everyones car alarm but, I do like the sound when I drive past a jersey wall or under a bridge.

I had a dual exhaust installed down the passenger side, and he used a couple of fairly inexpensive turbo mufflers. 2-1/4" pipes, with 2-1/2" tips slash cut behind the rear wheels.
Nice and quiet in the cab, but pretty healthy sounding (for a stock worn out 390) when I'm on the gas hard.

I have always liked flowmaster mufflers. Lots of guys dont like them tho.

I had magnaflows on my truck for a long time & I also liked them. Classic sound.

I say Flowmaster or magnaflow. Flip a coin !

I might also ad Spinteck mufflers. They have a unique sound. Its almost like a cross between a flowmaster & a Magnaflow. You can look for equipped vehicles on youtube. They're all over.

As with any muffler, the more HP you put thru them, the better they sound
