New money pit!

Post by old_mare »

Well I am the new proud owner of a 68 Mercury Cougar xr7. One of the brothers in my Lodge needed a car for his son who just got his driver's license, and the kid didn't want to put the effort into restoring his dad's 68 Coug. So we got to chatting, and it was settled that we would trade my 1992 Geo Storm for his 1968 Cougar (plus I agreed to teach his kid to drive a stickshift. ) :D

It needs a lot of work, but I think I got a heck of a deal on this one. PO says it has been sitting covered in his driveway for about 15 years now untouched. The motor had been rebuilt about 2 years before he parked it. There is minimal cancer and the paint is in OK shape but the interior needs some real TLC. I figured, since the bump is all the way back home in Montana, I might as well take on a side project.

Will post pics as soon as I go pick her up.

P.S. Wife is p****d. :hs:

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Tell the wife that the Cougar can go up in value , but the Geo will only go down.

I would say you got the better deal between the two 8) Ive got a 68 cougar too. I love the body lines on the 67-68 cougars plus their 4" longer wheelbase than mustangs give you a little more leg room. If the signal lights work in the rear show them blinking to her, womans always telling me she likes the way the signals look blinking.

Thanks all. Should be going to pick her up late next week. I have to make room in the garage before I can get her in there.

Wife is a little less mad about the trade. She just said there was no way she was ever going to spend any money on "...that stupid car..."

I can't wait to see her face when I get it running nice and painted... hehehe she's gonna want to drive it, I know it. ;)
