I've got an opportunity to pick up a 78 F250 4X4 for $350. The main thing I'm wanting is the dana 44 front end. The doors and fenders if they're decent will go to my brother for his 77. It looks like the rest of the body is pretty beat up. The truck has a 460, C6 and NP 205. It's also got dual tanks that I think I might be able to utilize.
What parts would be worth pulling off for selling/trading material or for upgrades to my 71? I figure I'll pull the front and rear differential, the C6 and transfer case, the steering column???, master cylinder and proportioning valve and all steering linkages. I'll pull the steering sector/pitman arm. What else should I pull before sending the remains to it's final resting place?

I'll let ya know if/when it happens. The truck is 200 miles away. I get off work here in 1.5 hrs and am considering driving over to look the truck over after work. A long way for a parts truck, but I haven't been able to find a Dana 44 for less than the price of this truck and they're all over 100 miles away from me. May as well get a whole truck and get what parts I can use or resell. ![2 cents :2cents:](./images/smilies/icon_2cents.gif)

Maybe a matter of what one wants...The truck has a 460, C6 and NP 205. It's also got dual tanks that I think I might be able to utilize.
I paid a lot more than that for my C-6/NP-205 and HD-44.

Re: OT 78 F250 4X4 parts ????
I've been going back and forth for years now about swapping the truck over to an automatic. When I was in my twenties, I was sure that real 4X4's had manual transmissions. Nowadays, my knees say switch it over to auto.
There's no title for the truck, plus I've already swapped my truck to power steering. Even though it might be easier, I'll stick with my frame. There's also a lot of sentimental reasons to keep as much of the original truck as possible. I'm already swapping out front clips and beds on this truck, so cab and frame are all the original girl left.mljjones67 wrote:You know what i would do?
