Edit: just received a picture!

Carefully examine my 3/4 ton forged beam and see if you can see why the truck pulls to the right.

Yeah... 3/4 ton beams should be STRAIGHT in both directions, from the top and from the side.

The beam should be the red line

Needless to say, the radius arm, and the i-beam, will be hanging from the garage wall as a trophy :D

nahhhhhh

Stepping up to 1 ton. twice the size.

I've already got my 1 ton beams, stripped and painted, stripped down to the bare beam and spindle. We test fit the brake assembly together and after some headaches we found we can use...
-1 ton beams/spindles
-3/4 ton calipers (brand spankin new off the 3/4 ton stuff) and 3/4 ton backing plates
-3/4 ton races in the 1 ton discs with 1 ton bearings
I think that's how we did it.

I'll be bending them like the other set soon, and we are going to plate these down the beam. They will NEVER bend!

Wouldn't it be easier and much stronger to build your own beams the way you want them from alloy steel?

Good afternoon Ryan,

Those are great photos--I like the way you drew the red line to illustrate the bend. That really did the trick.

That's also a great photo of your Bumpside lifting off! I have always felt, deep down, that 3/4 ton Bumpsides were meant primarily for aviation. Well done!!!

Dustin for many it would be easier but for me It would be easiest to bend the 1 ton beams. I already had them, and just need to spend a half our bending them, then some plating. If i built new beams I'd use heims and that starts adding up already for a budget build.

I'm wondering if for racing you don't need a double shock set up in the front?
