Re: ford pickups
I was 39 when I bought the 68 F100. It's a trailer, now. I was 34 when I bought an 86 Mazda B2000, half brother to a Ford Ranger. So that sort of counts.

Re: ford pickups
I got my first Ford truck ('01 F250 PSD) back in April of '03 when I was 24. I got the bump ('69 F100) in August of '04. My brother's first truck was a '67 F100 that my grandpa had bought new. I've been a fan of the bumpside for as long as I can remember.

Re: ford pickups
I got my first truck at 16. Dad drove home one afternoon from work with a 67 F-100 longbed. It had a 300 I-6 and a C-4 auto. He spent 800 bucks for that truck and I drove it all though high school. I even drove over my own battery with that truck! But that is another story.

I was 27 when I bought my first Ford, a brand new 1987 F-150 4x4 regular cab 8' box. drove it for 179,000 miles. Then my oldest son proceded to dent, smash and scrape every single inch of her. Burns me to this day because he mistreated her so bad.
It was an awesome truck!!!

Re: ford pickups
I was 16 and got a '73 F150 LWB, two tone blue, 360 auto. It was about 5 years old with 100k miles and a recent engine rebuild. Top speed (which seemed important back them) was 87 mph. Kept it for about a year and half and traded up to a '76 F150 4x4 swb. I kept the 4x4 for 8 years and put another 130k miles on it.

Re: ford pickups
I will say the 6th grade when I came out of school to walk home and I saw my dad's 71 F100 for sale across the street and I stole the for sale sign and hid it. Next 3 or 4 days when I came out of school I threw away the sings. He went back on the road as a trucker for a week or two and forgot about selling the truck. He formally gave it to me when I was 15 or so and I am about 47 now. I did get a butt whooping when he came in off that next trip and asked me about the signs. Never could lie to him. He saw right through me every time I tried but he promised me he would not sell it and I could have it at 15.

Wish I had a 60 Ranchero.. Falcon truck.. I once had a 60 Falcon coupe.
Wish I still had it.. Had a mighty 144 CID six banger.. That was the only
engine you could get in those in 1960.

The first new vehicle my dad bought for himself (mom always had a new car) was a 1981 F100 300 4sp OD. It was a pretty basic truck but he treated it like a baby. He had it for 10 years and it still looked like new inside and out. He traded it in on a 91 F150 XLT Lariat. It had 50 some K on the odometer.
Knowing how well it had been taken care of, my then 21 year old cousin talked his mom into buying it from the dealer. Within a month he had rear ended a guy and side swiped a telephone pole.
As for me, my first truck was a 50 chevy. Broke my daddys heart when I brought it home. He'd had 3 bumps...2 '68's and a '72. The only non Ford he'd ever owned was a VW Beetle he bought for my big sis during the embargo. His first car was a 38 Ford coupe that his dad rolled while my dad was in Korea. My first bump was a '71 F250 that I was given in '96. I've been a bumpophile ever since.
