I was born in 81! lol My redline I got on trade back in 91 was a freestyler I think. It was chrome and red. It's been a long time ago it seems.

Wow, that brings back some memories, a friend had a hutch I still have a scar on my leg from ripping it open on one of those round bear-trap pedals on the half pipe, I had several diamond backs, a Suzuki (yes the motorcycle company) and a redline... I recall them all being several hundred dollars (the Suzuki was 400) and the Redline was I believe much more expensive than the suzuki... Funny, I won several local races back in the day and used to ride across town daily during the summer to ride on the half pipe... I rode my Specialized allez down the road recently and thought they were going to have to take me to the hospital... :help:

Duck, I remeber the bear trap pedals. If you slipped off & hit one hard, you were on you're way to the hospital for stitches. We filed ours down so they had less of a chance of gashing your shin open.

Awww the memories.

I found a Redline on ebay like I use to have...Man I should have kept that one! When I got it the tires, seat and pedals were trashed but I put all new stuff on it and rode the heck out of it and kept my GT all pretty! lol

papabug71 wrote:Redcap, I take it you rode Hutch bikes back in the day as well. Hate to break it to ya, but the Trick Star is the mecca for old school BMX collectors. I loved mine, it was a stout bike. You never had to worry about busting the frame with that bike.

The Hutch bikes fell out of favor when the GT & Dyno bikes came on the scene. The GT & Dyno bikes were alot lighter. A GT performer was half the weight of the Trick Star.

Oh well. Water under the bridge.
Yup, still have most of my old bikes back from the late 80s/early 90s...my Hutch bikes, the Cook Bros and my ELF DoubleCross are my favorites from that era.

Now, however...my Haro Nyquist R24 is what I ride the most. Cruisers rock!
