Athens. That explains it. My truck doesn't smoke but, I do occasionally get the stink eye from the ecoevangelists. I just glare back at them until they turn away. If it's a cute girl I'll wink.

What's funny is that these people consider themselves so much more evolved than everyone else, and they have a particular contempt for religious fundamentalists. Problem is they're so busy being smarter and more enlightened than everyone else that they don't realize they're just another version of the same gullible dupe. Al Gore is Jimmy Swaggart...denying oneself comfort in the name of saving the planet is no different than the self flagellation and self imposed poverty meant to express ones closeness to God. The new Green Laws are the old Blue Laws. The leaders of both the ecofreeko movement and the church get rich and live lavishly while preaching austerity to the cogs. It's the same racket. People allow themselves to be manipulated for the sake of feeling morally superior to others.

This isn't to say that we should dump sewage in rivers or that all religion is a cynical manipulation of needy people, but there is definately a core of true believers in both who are as pathetic as they are dangerous.

No one realizes but the people who are all trying to "save" the environment and what not are the very people that are destroying the environment. Its all bass akwards and no one is smart enough to realize it. "Oh my electric car doesn't burn any gas and there's no harmful exhaust". Well if you opened you stupid eyes you would realize yes you are right about THAT, but, instead of burning gas your burning coal. Even worse than gas. So really, idiots are the people who think their helping everything, well because their IDIOTS. If we kept everything the way it was instead of trying to be all green with cars and all, we would be better off. Yes some stuff is better like wind energy. But this is a morons world, run by morons and were just along for the ride. No one is smart enough to open their frickin eye's and its just plain sad. Their STUPID!

I had a 78 F150 4x4 that would smoke a little from sitting and wasnt worth the effort of repairing from the rust eating away at the truck. sometimes i would get a smart&ss that would beat their gums to me about my truck, most of the time ill just brush it off. But this on day i just wasnt in the mood to listen to a peckerheads crap, I was standing beside the truck while it was running while she went into the store to get some stuff and shore enuff here comes a guy that looks like hes going to save the enviroment over to tell me that im polluting and should shut off the truck. And my responce to him aside from minding his own was i bet his grandpa was proud of him for buying a car from japan. He put his life on the line so that a little snot nose trader like you could have the right to spend your money overseas on buying that frigin car you drive.

That doesn't work with this particular sort. They see "Buy American" as jingoistic nationalism and a sign of a limited intellect. They're "global citizens", not so much Americans. As a matter of fact, they have contempt for previous generations who they feel were'nt good earth stewards and raped the earth mother in pursuit of crass materialism and middle class consumerism. They see America as a greedy country gobbling up all the worlds resources ect, ect. So playing on their patriotism isn't going to work.

That's the problem. Not a whole lot crosses their minds. They live in a bubble. These are pasty white snoburbanites who were weened on MTV's "The Real World" and yes, they actually think that crap reflects the real world. The only thing more important to them than saving the earth from you retrograde neanderthals is managing their image among the other enlightened snotzies. They go to colleges like William & Mary where they're taught by the toxic refuse of the last generation who found they couldn't function in the real real world so they stayed in college, got lots of degrees in english lit and lesbonomics and are now busy mind f***ing the next generation. Not that I blame them. They looked at their marketable skills and concluded that being a professor of womens studies was preferable to being the shopping cart round up guy at Wal-Mart...which is about all they'd be good for on the outside.

These are the ones they've been waiting for, the ones who weep and squeal like school girls at a New Kids concert when the Great Urkels motorcade drives by. I never thought I'd live to witness such an embarrassing spectacle from Americans, but then, like I said, these people aren't really Americans. Not by any standard previously acknowledged. Crying and chanting infantile slogans is more 30's europe than any point in America's history.

At any rate, I ramble. Just remember that this is what you're dealing with. There's no reasoning with this level of zealotry. Next time they put thier smug face on, show 'em a s**T eatin grin and give 'em the bow finger salute.

I say get your exhaust re-routed to come out in front of your rear tires so you can pull up beside those weenies in your bump and power brake it and fill their little wiener cars up with tire smoke and engine smoke!
Other than that just plane ignore them. It is your truck and you will fix it up at your convenience and time table.
Once it is fixed and running great it will be much greener that their little plastic cars and you won't have a car payment on top of that

Laugh if you want but...

I have a 17' bow rider with a junk yard 2.3 that smokes bad. Trying to sell it so I poured in 8oz of Bardahl brand 'no smoke' motor honey, it was $4 at Advance Auto, and by golly it doesn't smoke anymore. The stuff pours like tar, substituted 8oz of it for new oil when I changed it and the engine still runs good.

Figure it might be worth while for $4.

From what I hear, synthetic oil doesn't smoke like dinosaur oil does, that may be another option.
