Rat Rod
Well fellow ford drivers...I have a question, has anyone ever taking a 67-72 f100 frame and thrown an old truck like 40's-50's cab on it to make it a rat rod or just a cool looking truck? pics are always cool

Re: Rat Rod
40's cab on a Bump frame???? Other than the fact that a early cab would damn near fall inside the bump fame rail, and the frame is waaaay too long , both front & rear to look "cool"
meh...
meh...
As a metter of fact, i AM trying to keep up with the Jones'

Re: Rat Rod
Early trucks were tiny compared to bumps. This is why most people who do what you suggest opt for a Ranger or S-10 frame.
If you're dead set on using a bump frame, I suggest you watch the Mad Max movies "Road Warrior" or Beyond Thunder Dome" for ideas.
Break a deal...face the wheel...

Re: Rat Rod
I put a '60 body on a '77 4X4 chassis.
I wanted disc brakes , an auto trans and low range for a mud racer.
the '60 was lighter and it was left over from my 2wd street project.
there wasn't much floor left.
I frame mounted a roll cage, then mounted the body to the bars, and made a floor around it all.
painted it up like my low truck and confused some people.
I guess you could call it a tall rat rod ,with paint.

Re: Rat Rod
if it would be a good thing to make. i would make a mad max truck in a heartbeat. it woudlnt take ver ymuch to do. cut the roof off and then cut the bed down in a step pattern like they did inthe movie. and your done after you mount a fake pvc arrow shooter in the bed.

Re: Rat Rod
This is way way different but I intend to put a crew cab f100/f250 type body and long bed on an f750 frame. I found a donor truck maybe if I can make a deal or find some cash to pay for it.

Yes, I'll post some photos and updates if anything happens.jnash40 wrote:haha i think we all need some cash to fund our projects haha good luck with it, you goin to post in the project forum?
If I get a new belt for the air compressor.
If I get the truck started I'll make a video.
If I get it registered and actually on the road and legal I will definitely post that!
If I get the crew cab you bet I'll post it.
