Basic Soon Begins

Post by 72Highboy »

Howdy Everyone,

Its been awhile since I have been on: between working with my dads company, hanging out with friends, family, helping out with my Venturing Crew, and my local training. I havent been able to be on the sight lately. But that doesn't mean I haven't been working on my bump. Bought a EdelBrock Aircleaner and a HPR air filter on also. :D Other than that just the normal routine. Checking the points gap, changing the oil, check the spark plugs and wires and cleaning the engine I pressure washed it yesterday. Man a lot of grease and dirt came off of it. Got a new windsheild installed but wasn't able to keep the chrome trim on the window. The company didnt have that gasket. Its ok still looks good.

Well the reason of this topic is to just thank the other members that have helped on on my topic's, problems and any other questions or comments I may have asked and the ones who put in comments on my project topic. I would also like to thank Keith and the others that keep this sight running day to day.  I leave for basic training in 4 days so this will be the last time I get on and write but not for long as soon as I can get my truck to where I am stationed I am going to get it there quick and back to the projects page for Brandi. Well all wish me luck and add one more Fighting Bump Driver to the list. Ill be leaving for Fort Benn Georgia, 11x, going for Rangers. HOOAH!!

Good luck Joshua,
Do your best, push your limits and don't be nervous to take the lead. Better to make, and learn from, mistakes in training.
Best lesson I got from a D.I. was "always train likes it's the real deal". That advice saved my life.

I was just reading in the Army Times, that they are finally changing the PT regimen, and will be changing the test criteria as well, to better reflect the needs of a solder in combat. Sounds really promising. Hope you are part of that program.

A lot of us will be looking forward to hearing your progress. Keep us informed as you can. 8)

Which branch are you joining? Basic training makes it sound like the Air Force but I have been out of it for many years so I cannot be sure. Which ever branch I am proud of you and thank you. Just remember during basic there are a lot of mind games. Air Force anyway. I went through Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas in 82 then went to Sheppard AFB Texas for Tech. school. I just a little reading and it sounds like they have changed basic training a good bit since I went through it with a lot more training towards combat training. Back when I went through it was all mind games to see how much pressure a person could take and they would base your filed on that to a certain point.
Good luck with whatever branch you serve in they are all important.

Good Luck To You!

You are about to embark on some of the best times, and worst times of your life. I just celebrated, my 12th year of active service. Set your goals high, and don't let anyone stand in your way. The military is a great start to a good future, even if you don't make it a career. So here is a salute to you, and to everyone on this board, veterans, current active duty, enlistees, and supporters alike!

Again good luck!
