RUN!!!!

Post by fordman »

i was at the junkyard this morning. looking fo rsoemthing i doubted they had. and i got into a van that had been there awhile. anyway i went to pick up a piece out of the dash area where the cluster used to be. and wasps started stinging the heck out of my hand and shoulder. i think i got four total stings. i ran away from them and they didnt follow me. i stopped and put mud all over my right hand and shoulder. that took the sting away but my hand feels swollen a little bit still. i guess it does look a little swollen too.

That sucks. Glad you are not allergic to them.
I was in a junk yard several years ago looking for something I don't remember, sat in the seat of some old Ford car with my feet sticking out the door. I looked down at the space beside the seat and door to see a Copperhead about a foot long laying there. Needless to say I got out of that seat fast and the snake died fast.
I always look around any car or truck before I get in one at the junk yard.

I tend to look all around vehicle at junkyards now. Mostly because I've run into a few large creatures I don't want to run into again. One was Jeep, I think I was getting a headlight bracket..anyway, went to look and see if there were any good interior parts left, sat down, and looked at the gauges. Figured I might be able to use it if it matched mine. Pulled it out and bolted straight out of the car. Ran down the pathway with BATS following me. Only other time is when a large tarantula was in the glovebox of A Mercedes (yep, I had one).

I always check now. Plus I cautiously take them apart. Never know what might come out.

I never used to be alergic to bee's. Used to get stung all the time when I was younger and never thought anything of it. Good lord who hasn't tried to throw a rock at a bee's nest??? :hn: Anyway, the last couple times I've gotten stung I've had serious reactions. They've gotten worse each time. Last year I got stung on the wrist. Didn't think anything of it but ended up getting dizzy and passing out within 5 minutes. My entire arm was red and swollen for 5 days. Now I'm leary of getting stung at all. Damn bee's.....

I don't have a shop so I have to do all my work outside. Well today I was removing the letters off of the hoods I recently acquired and I heard a buzzing sound. I looked around to see where it was coming from and noticed a nice little swarm of yellow jackets swarming around between my feet. Time to move!! I took care of the little monsters and got back to work with no stings.

Bout the only thing I run into is stinking rats. You know the HUGE rats that can beat the crap out of a squirrel.

They will scare the crap outta you if you're not expecting it & they stare at you with those beedy red eyes.

When I was a heavy-equipment technician, I used to have to go out in the field and work on a lot of equipment.

In the spring and fall, lots of times snakes would slither into the belly pans overnight to stay warm. Most (nearly all) of the time, it was black snakes.

I know they're not dangerous, but talk about something that will make you hurt yourself, well...

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

That's not an oil leak :nono: That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

I'll be dating myself on this one, doing the speaker check each spring at the drive-in the tools where a screwdriver set and a can of raid. Procedure was to whack the pole and speaker set with the big screwdriver while having the can of raid ready to mow down any angry bugs if necessary. Started applying the same trick to farm equipment we didn't use often too. That tended to make bugs or snakes move so that you could see them first, which to me is a lot less exciting and pants pooping cleaning. In a pinch liquid wrench kills them flying pain makers pretty good too. :cuss: and dancing like an epileptic fit and trying to hold in the runs and break dancing at the same time look of getting stung is great if the video is of someone else. Dang this brings back some funny and painfull memories. :D

The ground dwelling hornets are fierce here in Oregon. I took a friend fishing one summer, years ago. We were hiking in t-shirts, shorts and river sandals down to the river when we got nailed by hornets. I had just warned him about stinging nettle. He thought that's what got him at first, because he got the first bite. We both took off running and got OUT of there. Ended up with at least a dozen bites/stings each. A few of them swelled up, but not too much problem. We went home laughing and swearing because there wasn't much else we could do! They did give me phantom twinges of pain or itching for a couple of months after. I kill every single hornet I see now.

I was out cutting the field and just got ate up by ground bees, didnt see them till it was to late and got stung 14 times, twice in the head. I couldnt find high gear fast enuff to get out of there. Got to go back later and finish cutting the 30 foot strip thats left to cut after i go back and pour some gas down their hole. Been cutting the same place for 20 years and never got stung cutting grass until today. Not good to sting to landlord, Good way to get evictied LOL
