352 engine

Post by towtruckerfour »

Hey guys. I was wondering who on here has a 352 engine in their truck and how do you like it? I found one on craigslist for $200 and it runs as far as I know. I am trying to find a motor for my 68 highboy which originally had a 390 but I thought this motor would work to get it up and going for now. Thanks for any input.

A buddy had a 352 in a 67 2wd .
He had no complaints , he'd pull a small fishing boat all over the state and into Canada
He'd keep up with traffic on the hi-way.

It's no 390 , but it'd do . :2cents:

My 352 was a good runner for an FE, and I don't know all the reasons why besides the difference between 2wd and 4wd, but the 352 in my 67 felt way more peppy then the 360 in my highboy. My only problem came from my motor taking out the main bearings twice with the Crank. I don't know that the cause was exactly, but I don't think that is typical. It sounds like you may have found a good deal to get you up and going for now. Good luck!

I spoke to the guy last night and the motor does run. He had it in a 66 ford but replaced it with an engine from his sons mustang that got wrecked. Included in the $200 bucks is the motor and a rebuilt c6. I don't need the tranny so I will probably sell that. This wll be my chance to get my 68 going and I can't wait to drive it. Thanks for the replies.

Had a 66 F100 for a little while with a 352 in it. It was one of the smoothest engines I have had. Had decent power but was no hot rod. Should have kept that truck. I sold it to a friend and he sold to someone else who ended up parting it out. Too nice of a truck for that.

I personally like the 352 better then a 360... 352's are good running motors IMO.

My Truck was originally a fully optioned standard cab, which meant 352, PS, PB, AT and AM Radio, and Road King under dash air.
I put headers, duals, and a Holley 500cfm on the 352 and just that much made a huge difference. I pulled a 2 axle U Haul from So Cal to Wisc. with it almost 20 yrs ago, and after a couple seasons of April to Novemeber daily driving I cracked a head and decided to rebuild entire engine, it's so easy to make it a 390 ... so thats what it became, now on it's 2nd build as a 390.
