OT : checking the oven

Well, I think it is just an unfortunate accident. I think putting anything plastic in an oven, even if just for storage purposes, is a problem to begin with. It was only a matter of time before those lids got cooked, too bad it was your wife that was the unfortunate party.

The question nobody has asked yet... did you still get freshly baked cookies?

nope the oven is currently disassembled and waiting on parts to be replaced

I never check my oven. Since I live alone, and I think the oven is a stupid place to store things, there is seldom anything in the oven other than food.

That being said, when my dad comes over to help me work on the house he "helps out" by cleaning dishes and putting them in the oven. Fortunately I only have cast iron and stainless pots/pans, so nothing has melted.
