Attempting to save a bump!
I have noticed a bump taht has been sitting in the same spot for 4 years now. It was parked in a driveway just before its owner passed away. It has sat there ever since. The owners were buried behind the house, they had no money. Rumor is the estate and truck went to the country for back taxes, or possibly a living brother. The bump is two tone blue and all original and in VERY good shape. Im in the process of trying to find out who actually posses the truck (state or person). I really cant afford to buy it right now but If thatsw what it take to save it I will try my best. I may post the truck and agreed price on here in case anyone else has compassion on this great old bump. I just hate to see it go to waste after surviving 40 years.

You can do a title search at your local DMV. What state?

Re: Attempting to save a bump!
I would say its owned by a person because if the county owned it it would have already been auctioned off to pay taxes owed. i dont think the county would wait 4 years to sell it, and i belive the county would have it on one of there lots. $.02

Have to agree with hazle on this. they'd either have autcioned it off or scrapped it by now. Most likely owned by one person. Probobly the afore mentioned brother. Keep us posted on it.

Re: Attempting to save a bump!
Thats what I thought, but the information is coming from someone who knw the people all their lives, I didnt want to shrug it off. I am currently researching to see who may have inherited it. Chances are the title is still in the deceased gentleman's name. Ill post the information as I get it. And If the truck can be bought information on it. I dont see why it wouldnt be, its sat for 4 years that I know of. Its a beautiful complete truck. Obviously the people's only vehicle. I believe its a Ranger F100. Cant see the grille, I may stop and take pics tomorrow.

Re: Attempting to save a bump!
I've been through similar situations, trying to figure out who owns old abandoned cars & trucks. It's not easy. Had to make a lot of phone calls. About 5 years ago, I tried to save a complete '65 Chevy C-10(I'm mainly a Ford guy but I hated to see a classic truck get grown over). It had been abandoned in some recently sold woods that was slighted to be developed. The land owner(s) did not acknowledge it being on their property and no one else seemed to care, etc. Just before I could get permission to tow it off, the county came in and declared it as an "eye sore" and hauled it away on the spot. They weren't very careful when they removed it would be a nice way to put it.

Re: Attempting to save a bump!
I tryed before i got my bump to get a 1968 merc cougar (not real sure the year) with a FE engine and 4 speed raven black been sitting for about 15 years at a old garage out a dirt road. The old man died 5 years ago and nobody knew who owned it and it took me 3 years to find him it was his brother who lived in cailfornia. I called him on the phone and said " Are tom brother that lives in kentucky." he said yes. i asked if he wanted to sell the car he said he gave it to me i dont want i dont know wat it is. Well he want 1000 bucks for it and never seen it.

Re: Attempting to save a bump!
The truck is worth $1,000 easy. Its complete and in great shape. If at all possible I intend to buy or find a home for it. No sense in a beautiful complete truck rotting. It looks driveable now. Its a perfect project truck. I intened to save it if I have to sell an ATV to do it.1982 flareside wrote:I tryed before i got my bump to get a 1968 merc cougar (not real sure the year) with a FE engine and 4 speed raven black been sitting for about 15 years at a old garage out a dirt road. Re: Attempting to save a bump!
I dont believe in letting things go to waste. I love my bump very much, Its a great truck. I love these classics. They have character and personality new trucks dont have. They work hard, they are reliable, tough, and dependable. It FEELS like a truck. I know that it deserves a good home, maybe with a young kid needing a good first truck, or someone older wanting to have a peice of their past.

Re: Attempting to save a bump!
it takes 5 years to sell a property that is behind on its taxes. because of all the red tape the county has to go through. that is here. i dont know about elsewhere. the fastest way to find out who owns what. is to go to ther county and find out who the registered owner of the land is or where they mail the taxes too. also ask the county if it is on the tax roll to be sold if not paid. you can in some states pay up the taxes and get the whole house for the taxes only. which means the truck would come with it. ok once you determine who is going to be the owner of the land contact them or the estate person. to find out what the disposition of the truck is. check the local newspapaer for information on thier death and who is the executor of the estate.
now on a different note. most places will not let you bury anyone in thier backyard any more. so this must be one small town or something that doesnt have very many rules reguarding that. i wouldnt want a place where someone was buried in the back yard. maybe that is where the movie funny farm came up with the idea of someone being buried in the flower garden next to chevy chases new house.

Re: Attempting to save a bump!
This is Houston County Texas. Population 22,000 (for the entire county) The house is 8 miles from a gas station, the nearest town is tiny. Its just about like Hazzard county in the Dukes of Hazzard. The county is all rural. If its in my county, its near the line so it may be in Cherokee county, which is little better. I think its population 28,000, maybe a little more.
Im going to try to stop by today and get the VIN and plate number off the truck and take some pics.

Re: Attempting to save a bump!
Here in NC I can go on the net and look up tax records. I can punch in an address and see who owns the property. I would try that approach.
