Ya every time I try to sell something it is complete junk and everyone wants to give less than half the asking price. I don't mind paying a little more for something that is in good shape but some people are just ridiculous in their pricing.

Last time I checked my truck was worth 30k. I recently turned down an offer of 26k
I hear ya' . I looked at a '68 ranger a couple of years ago at a salvage in Kansas. It had been sitting for 15+ years & was rotted to the core. I wanted it for the drivetrain & the accesories. He said he would "let it go" for $1500 It was worth $500 at the most.
I did manage to get him to part with the sport bumper, brackets & the west coast mirrors for $150, so it's not all bad.

I paid $2200 for my 71 F250 CS. With financing, too.
Its a Cali truck and has only little surface rust. Only under the battery is rotten- and not that bad.
i have been searching craigslist lately fo rcars to fix and resell or cars to haul off as junk or even get a parts car for my wifes car. and alomost everyone of these unibody built type cars out there either have a bad transmission or bad engine. and the lowest they are asking is 400.00 for a rusty hulk with a bad engine or transmission. to me junk is only paying 90.00 a ton last week. and these cars barely weigh over a ton. i am not interested in giving away 310.00 to someone just so i can make trip to the junkyard. its still part of the gas scare left overs and now the rising prices because of the gas prices. people are being dumb. like one guy said in his ad. i want this or a offer. or in a week im callign the junkman. haha. the junkman gives even less if he has to come get it. well the pro junk places do that. they have overhead too.
well people are funny. i stopped and looked at a truck just for fun today. it was a 71 F250 sport custom. 4 on the floor i think it was a np435. over and up. 390 supposedly. deaker ad on power steering. the cab mounts had been repaired with some larger than normal boxes of 1/4 plate. the drivers side cab mount had a 2x4 squishing out from under that mount. the front drivers fender had been mashed in behind the tire. the guy said the tire fell off and he ran over it. the drivers bed had a hump mashed part at the bottom of the bed. the tailgate had two fist sized rust holes in it. the bed had five milk jugs of old oil in it. i dont know what that meant. the passenger side had some of the lower trim still on it. only because they ran metal screws through the trim to hold it on. the passenger front fender was rusted out at the bottom corner near the door. at the top of the fender near the cowl it had another rust hole in it about 3 inches long. the passnege grille had some denting /scratches to it and the headlight door. both doors wee in good shape. the radio bezel had been cut out to fit in a am fm cassette. whe i opened the hood i thought both hinges were going to fall off of the inner fenders. the core support had the usual rust. asking price? 1500.00 and then he said a guy called and offere 1200.00 but never called back. no wonder. to part that truck out you might make 500.00 out of it. my highest offer may have been 300.00
I bought a SWB truck recently for 200 bucks and was able to salvage the hood, fenders, doors , and bed. Not all of the stuff is perfect but it if fixable. Then I took the frame, cab, and some other junk to the scrap yard and got 160 bucks back. Not too bad I'd say. I have seen a few CL deals around here though. Saw a '72 Ranger XLT that was running and looked straight for 800 bucks.

Some people, especially old guys, would rather let a truck sit and rot than sell it...if only because they like talking to the occasional interested buyer. I know an old fella who does exactly this. Right now he has a 90 chevy 4wd sitting in his front yard with a blown engine and very little paint left on it. When someone stops to ask the price, he tells them he's "taking bids"...but only after he runs his mouth for 20 minutes. He also has a bass boat in his yard that was parked in '85. It has a freekin oak tree about 6 feet tall growing out of the leaves that have accumulated in it over the past 25 years. He only wants 2 grand for that.
I once stopped to look at a 47-53 chevy that had been sitting so long a tree had grown thru the rotted out bed and begun to lift the rear of the truck off the ground. The old guy who owned it, he looked about 100, said he was going to fix it up one day....
I paid 550 for my 70 Lwb. My dad paid 1500 for 2 67's one is my swb and the other was a lwb. I think alot of the time people are hoping they dont sell their bump. These trucks have character and eventually become part of the family.
