Found a truck to buy , need some "man" power

i have not given up on buying my dad old truck but dude is not turning it loose yet. today i found a 68 f 100 for 3500. the outside looks in good shape but i dont know much bout under the hood : are there any of you near athens tn that would be willing to look it over for me to see if its worth that much? i would pay your gas or whatever you needed : just dont want to loose that kind of cash ya know? its a 3 on the floor 302 engine: thanks !

look under the cab for rusty areas of floor pans and cab mounts. as well as front inner and outer fenders.

i know any rust is bad but are those particularly bad? hard to fix?

What are your ultimate plans for this truck? Are you going to patch the rough edges and drive it daily or do a tear down and restore it? That will help you a lot in deciding how involved you want to get and how much you will need to invest. Most sheet metal rust is repairable but the more you have the less the truck is worth and the more cash youll sink into it. Take a magnet along to check the body for lack of metal (bondo).

Of course theres always the consideration of mileage and wear and how tired the engine might be.
