What did a F100 cost new in 1971?
Hey!
How much did our trucks cost when new? I´m very interested in this myself, but I also need to know the price for taxes over here..
I´ve got a 1971 F100, Custom, LWB, 302, 3 on the tree, manual steering, manual brakes.
Any old price listings or bill of sales would be great! Doesn´t need to be exactly for my truck or ´71 only, just a general information.
Thanks!
Florian

Re: What did a F100 cost new in 1971?
Old newspaper ad's would probably be a source of dealer prices.
I'm trying to remember about what they were going for then..
Hard to say.. I wasn't driving myself until 73, so truck prices were
not at the top of my priorities then.. :/
But I'm gonna take a wild stab and guess that truck you have might
have sold for around $3500-$3800 new, plus or minus a tad..
I remember in 1971 we got a new Ford station wagon.. I should be
able to recall the price, but it's been so long it's kind of lost in the fog..
I may be totally off, but I'm thinking it was around $4200..??
That was for a fairly standard 71 Ranch Wagon, with V8, auto, air, etc.
No wood trim, but I remember it had a luggage rack on the roof.
I may have a picture of it somewhere... Seems like I did..
Hard to believe that was nearly 40 years ago.. :/ I was in the eighth
grade in 71.. I started driving in the 10th grade.
I'm kind of expecting a 71 truck with a lot of manual stuff to be a tad
less than a station wagon. So that's why I'm guessing slightly under $4000..
I imagine someone around here has an original sales slip to their trucks
to give you a closer idea.

Not sure about other states, but AZ put's a "list price" on the title. It looks like my '70 F100 could be had ( in pristine condition) for $2447.00. ![Hmmm :hmm:](./images/smilies/icon_hm.gif)

Florian,
This is for 1969, but there may be info on the site for 71 as well.

I don't think they list it in marks.

Thanks guys!
That´s some very good info so far!
A 1971 price list would be perfect, but the ´69 list should be okay also.

My father says he paid $2750 for my 71 F100 Sport Custom. That was with the aftermarket rear step bumper. 302, 3 speed/column. am/fm radio in NC

Re: What did a F100 cost new in 1971?
Thank you for reminding me how good a value these trucks strill are. They didn't cost an arm and a leg and there's still alot of them on the road today, 40+ years later. Nice looking truck too. I don't know if this will help now but for reference, I bought a clean sea foam green '71 back in '79 that had a 360 automatic with 24K miles on it for $2,300.00.
