Project frankenweenie
so i have read and enjoyed reading all of your projects, and thought i would start to share mine with you fine gents and gals. so i started working on this 1972 F100 4x4 a long time ago. it has sat for a number of years. the plan was to put another 4" to the existing 4" lift and swap bodes for a good one. also put full hydraulic steering,do a one piece power window system, ac/heater unit, pull the in-cab gas tank out and put the mid ship tank in, and clean up some of the other body lines such as the shave the door handles, fill in the tail gate indent, and changing the tail lights to led strips. There's more but i wont bore you with all my ides for this truck.
Specs as of the start of the project:
Body: stock 1972 f100
Interior: stock
Motor: stock 360FE
Gear Box: manual w/ 2 speed transfer case (no 4 low )
Suspension: stock w/ 4" lift
here is the the beast.
Don't let that body fool you the front clip was only held on by mounting points at the cab. and the cab only had one bolt holding it down also there was no floor left in it.
and the donner a 1967 f100 2x4

I got the frame almost all the way done. I got the frame rhino lined and the front and rear diff's rebuilt and the rear painted. just need to do brake lines, and install the gas tank after i pull it from the donor truck and lines also. O and i still need to make the custom radius arms and track bar.
and i did a quick mock of the hydo steering cylinder.
tomorrow's plan is pull the bed, cab, and front clip off of the 67 and put it on the 72. should be fun day.

Re: Project frankenweenie
well got the bed back off and had to put the cab and front clip on, so i have some weight on the frame when i make the new rad. arms finally. just dont know if it will come out of the garage now even with the smaller tires on it.
and here is my temp. drop brackets for the rad arms.
they will work to get it on and off the trailer and thats it. it crazy how fast stuff starts to surround your project when your not looking.

Are you going to put the running boards back on when you're done? I've been thinking about getting a set but wondered how they'd look on a 4X4.

no Im not going to put those useless things back on. if i do put steps on it they will be the ones that look like a big U. i could mock one on there for you if you want to see how it looks.

Re: Project frankenweenie
That would be cool. Why do you say the steps are worthless? Are they unstable?

Re: Project frankenweenie
how they are bolted on my truck they where very unstable. they had a strap that bolted to the back side of the cab and they bolted to the wheel wells. the rest of the running boards bolted to the bottom lip of the cab. i dont know if they where installed as they should have been. when you stepped on them they would just bend down. if i where going to do full steps i would do the bar style ones. those ones at lest bolt to the frame and not that body. i will get some pics of it with those set on for you when the weather calms down some.
