Fun at the bone yard.

I went to the bone yard today, it's cold and raining and I was lugging to much stuff. Anyhow I managed to get turned around way back in the woods and I found a whole bunch of new cars to look at and a crap load of old Ford pick ups. I took some pics of the cool cars I found but somehow forget to get pics of the trucks, well that's not entirely true, I did get some of an old Holly 4 banger that was on a 390.

Here's the dash of an old Olds Cutlass and the radio.


If you look at the rest of the pics on photobucket you'll see an old T-Bird with suicide doors, in the back seat are 3 hub caps that look loke brand new, what a shame it is to see these vehicles with trees growing thru them and rotting away.

You know the first time I was stationed at Ft. Benning in 1980 I got turned around on some old sand road in Alabama and I stumbled upon a yard that only had mopars, you should have seen the stuff that guy had. When I got stationed back there in 87 and had a little more money I tried like hell to find that place again but I never could. Now my youngest son comes with me most times and he's blown away at the cars we had when I was young, it's a shame that most kids will never know what a real car or truck was.

yeah i know what you mean i am 29 yrs old and my 5 yr old son loves my classic truck so the plan that i have is after i get my dad's bump finished is to go and find an old classic that me and him can work on that way he appreciates the value of his vechicle. i may even build one for my daughter to.

I wish I had a mechanically inclined dad. It would have been fun to build up a vehicle. He can't even turn a screw driver, though.

Those are some nice cars. That Cutlass looks cool. Would be an interesting resto project for someone.
I love classic cars- hell, classic anything.
I'm all for technology (my first love is computers), but there's just something about an old vehicle. The look, feel, smell. They're built of metal and usually well built, finished, and trimmed. Plastic is good, but modern cars are generic. The history- where has this vehicle been? Who drove it? What did they do?

Anyway, good find!

yeah i am one of the lucky ones everyone on my dad's side of the family where mechanics or machinical engineers so they all worked on things i learned alot of my stuff from my 86 turbo coupe tbird did an engine swap and alot of body work on it with my dad's help

I'm in the same boat as Oren09, my dad would'nt even know what a screwdriver is, now my grandfather ( my dads dad ) had a shop that you would'nt believe, he could do ANYTHING. The problem is that he died when I was 11 and they auctioned off everything, I still remember his shop like yesterday, I would stay with my gramp's any chance I could. I have a few of his tools, nothing big just some hand tools but I'll never let them go.

i know what you mean about not letting any thing go. i have a majority of my dad's tool along with his truck which is my bump. i am gonna keep it till i croak, then pass it to either my son or daughter.

I'm not sure about my grandpa. He died when I was 8 and was really quiet when he was alive. There are quite a few tools and such at my grandma's- most of which my grandpa collected while working for Frito Lay. They threw a lot of stuff out at that place. The whole shed was made from scrap that plant tossed.
