To put a heater in or not

Post by c130enginetroop »

Just wanted to get ya'lls opinions on not putting the heater back in my bump. This will be a sunny day, weekend cruiser, nothing more, it is to be a play toy. I live in south Georgia near the flordia line and it don't get that cold here. so since I am working on my new cab I was thinking about closing the holes up and not putting it back in. Any thoughts?

I would keep it just for the defroster and just in case. Even when it is warm out, especially in humid regions like you are in, it can fog up the windows. But I can see your appeal on wanting to get rid of it. Like I saw on others post, perhaps you may just take it out and loop the heater hoses together. Run it for a while without the heater and see if you like it that way. Then you can do what you want to make it more permanent.

Gotta have the defrost to burn the morning fog off the windshield and help during a cold front T storm...

:yt: I am in Brandon Fl outside of Tampa! Having the defrost for an early sunday drive is a good reason!

I did it for 5 years in my 67 Mustang in the North East and I drove it daily... Let me tell you, unless you are prepared to keep a towel in your lap to wipe the humidity off the window and have issues during rain, I wouldn't do it. I used to have to use the ice scraper INSIDE too! Freezing rain (I know you get down there on occasion), rain, humidity, all creates issues you can do without.

I live about a hundred miles South of you and we had sleet here last year! Image
Yet another vote on the ease of installing the heater core and the benefits of having a defroster!
